Office of the Milwaukee County Clerk Providing the highest quality of service to the public at the lowest cost to the taxpayers.

The independently elected County Clerk records the proceedings of the County Board of Supervisors, maintains all legislative files, updates existing ordinances, and publishes new ordinances on-line. The County Clerk staffs all County Board meetings and County Board committee meetings. The County Clerk also maintains the County Legislative Information Center (CLIC), which provides on-line public ac

cess to legislative documents, meeting agendas and minutes, as well as, live on-line streaming of meetings of the County Board and its committees. The County Clerk issues marriage licenses and domestic partnership declarations, and registers all lobbyists and lobbying principals and reports to the the public on lobbying activity. The County Clerk also accepts applications for passports, sells bus tickets and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) licenses and permits. As an information clearinghouse for county government, the County Clerk administers oaths of office, maintains the central files for Milwaukee County reports, records, contracts and corporate documents, and receives and publicly opens competitive bids for county contracts. Every two years, I have the honor of chairing the Milwaukee County Board meeting until the Board elects its Chair. It is a privilege to help guide this important process and witness the leadership of our elected officials in action.

Congratulations to Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson-Bovell, First Vice Chair Milwaukee County Supervisor Steven Shea, and Second Vice Chair Priscilla E. Coggs-Jones. I look forward to working together in the term ahead.

ELECTION NEWS – TODAY (April 7) is the Spring Election and the polls are now OPEN!

✔️ Visit MyVote.wi.gov to check your registration status, see what’s on your ballot, and find your polling location.

✔️ In Wisconsin, individuals may register to vote on Election Day. One must provide a proof of residence document that contains a current name and residential address. Commonly used documents include, and are not limited to, a valid WI Driver's License or WI State ID Card, or a current utility bill (gas, electric, or phone).

✔️ Remember your photo ID.

✔️ Absentee ballots must be returned TODAY to be counted. Visit https://county.milwaukee.gov/EN/County-Clerk/Election-Commission to find whether there is the drop box location in your Milwaukee County community. Closing times for drop boxes will vary by municipality – contact your municipal clerk’s office to verify.

✔️ Polls are open until 8:00 p.m.

✔️ Election officials are the most reliable sources of election information. Do not hesitate to contact your municipal clerk’s office or the Milwaukee County Election Commission at 414-278-4060 with any questions.

Milwaukee County voters will head to the polls from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. today to take part in the Spring Election. If you still need to register, you can do so at your polling place on Election Day. Be sure to bring a valid photo ID and make a plan to cast your ballot.

Your voice matters. I encourage every eligible voter in Milwaukee County to participate and make their voices heard. These local and judicial races directly impact our communities, our courts, and our future. ELECTION NEWS – TOMORROW, April 7, is the Spring Election Primary in Wisconsin.

Every ballot in Milwaukee County will include the chance to vote for Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Court of Appeals Judge, and multiple Circuit Court Judges. All County Board Supervisory District seats are up for election. The Spring Election is also when many voters will elect candidates to lead their municipal governments and local school boards.

Need to register to vote? It’s not too late. Wisconsin residents may register on Election Day at the polls. A proof of residence document is required and must contain the voter’s name and current residential address. Commonly used documents include (not exhaustive) a valid Wisconsin driver's license or state ID card, or a current utility bill (gas, electric, or cell phone).

Please remember your photo ID. Some commonly used photo IDs include (not exhaustive) a valid Wisconsin driver license or state ID card, a passport or passport card, a veteran ID card or U.S. Uninformed Service ID, or a Certificate of Naturalization.
