Brush Pick-up Schedule

Beginning Monday, October 7, 2019, the Milton Borough Public Works Department will begin a Fall Brush Pick-up.

The ONLY materials that will be picked-up are LIMBS and BRUSH, (no leaves, garden plants, tree stumps, or bushes with roots)

The brush is to be placed on the sidewalk side of the curb and ready for pick-up NO LATER than 7:00 A.M. on the scheduled pick-up day.

The ONLY reason the Borough will pick-up in an alley is if the alley is the only roadway accessing the property. BRUSH PICK-UP WILL BE FOR ONE WEEK ONLY!

THE CHIPPER WILL NOT SPEND MORE THAN 10 MINUTES PER RESIDENCE!

BRUSH PICK-UP WILL TAKE PLACE RAIN-OR-SHINE ON THE FOLLOWING SCHEDULE!

2018 Brush and Leaf Pick-up Schedule
Borough of Milton

Leaf and Brush pick-up will begin October 22, 2018. Brush pick-up will only last for one week, and leaf pick-up will continue until all the leaves are gone or the first snowfall.
Only Limbs and Brush, Leaves, Flowers, Garden Plants and Grass Clippings will be accepted the first week of October 22nd. Tree stumps or bushes with roots are not allowed. The chipper will not spend more than 10 minutes per residence.
Only Leaves, Flowers, Garden Plants, and Grass Clippings (No Limbs or Brush) will be accepted starting the week of October 29th.
Materials are to be place on the sidewalk side of the curb NO LATER THAN 7:00 A.M. ON THE SCHEDULED PICK-UP DAY. The Borough will pick up in an alley if the alley is the only roadway accessing the property. The materials may be loose or bagged, although it is preferred that they are loose. If they are bagged, the Borough will not return the bags. Tarps will be left for the property owner.
Pick-up will take place Rain or Shine.
The schedule is as follows:
Monday, 10/22/18 - 1st Ward
Tuesday, 10/23/18 - 2nd Ward
Wednesday, 10/24/18 - 3rd Ward
Thursday, 10/25/18 - 4th Ward
Friday, 10/26/18 - 5th Ward

Due to inclement weather, the 9-11 Ceremony scheduled for tonight by the Milton American Legion Post 71 is cancelled and will be scheduled at a later date.

General reminder to the residents of Milton Borough due to all of the recent rain impacting the area. The river is currently at 17.96'. Projected to crest tonight at 8:00 p.m. at 22.5'.

Flood Information (These crests are approximate)

On the first pier of the Railroad Bridge is painted a scale showing the height of the river above the low water mark. Flood stage is 19 feet, nine inches 19’ 9”).

At 18’ the Borough is ok.

At 18’ 9” the following highways are passable:
• Milton to Watsontown
• Milton to Northumberland
• Watsontown to White Deer
• West Milton to New Columbia (River Road)

At 19’ 9” the following highways are impassable:
• Milton to Watsontown (north of the Borough limits)
• Milton to Northumberland (blocked below East Lewisburg)
• Watsontown to White Deer (blocked at west end of bridge)
• West Milton to New Columbia (River Road)

At 21’ 9” the additional highways are impassable:
• Milton to Northumberland (now blocked at Housel’s run also)
• West Milton to New Columbia (River Road)

At 23’ 3” there is practically no water in the Borough except:
• Race Street underpass
• Water in sewer at Garfield and Ferry Lane which is 1’ 6” below street level

At 24’ 9” water will come down North Front Street to the alley between Seventh and Eighth streets. The race Street underpass is closed and there is water in the street at Garfield and Ferry Lane from sewer back up.

• Milton to Northumberland (River Road under water south of bridge)
• Montandon to Lewisburg (east end of bridge cut off)
• Allenwood to Dewart (cut off across bridge)

At 30’ 6”, most of the Borough is flooded west of the railroad and some sections along Limestone Run to the rear of Center Street, ending at about Marsh Park.

At 30’ 9”, the following additional roads are impassable:
• Milton to West Milton (cut off at Milton end of bridge)
• Routes out of the Borough to west, north, and sough cut off for travel.

At 32’ 9”, all vehicular travel in the Borough is restricted to Brown Avenue bridge over Limestone Run in order to travel through the Borough.

The Milton Community Pool is accessible and will open at the regular time today. The remaining facilities in the Brown Avenue Park facility are not accessible at this time.

"Flood Water Update"

The river crested at 17.96 at approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night, July 25th. The river has started rescinding and the current level is at 17.3 and dropping. There were no substantial flooding issues or street closings within the Borough limits other than the Brown Avenue Park facility which will remain closed until further notice, which includes the Milton Community Pool. We will post updates on the availability of the Brown Avenue Park facility as the water continues to rescind.
