Summer means more kids riding bikes, families walking to parks, runners hitting the trails, and neighbors enjoying longer days outdoors.

That also means more pedestrians milling about, using crosswalks, and moving through neighborhoods.

A quick glance at a text, social media notification, or GPS can take your attention away at exactly the wrong moment.

Before you put your vehicle in drive, put your phone away. Stay alert, slow down, and watch for people walking, biking, or jogging, especially near parks, neighborhoods, trails, and community events.

One distracted moment can change a life.

A pair of sunglasses. A laptop case. Earbuds. A purse.

To you, they're everyday items.

To someone looking for an easy target, they're an opportunity.

Before you walk away from your vehicle, take a quick look around. Remove valuables and lock your doors.

A few extra seconds can help prevent a costly and frustrating theft.

School may officially be out for summer, but there was no way we weren’t sharing this one!

At the end of the year, Sadie and her mom, Brandy, surprised SLO Pishock with a custom-made horseshoe gift, and honestly, it’s one of those moments that really sticks with you!

Not long ago, Officer Pishock shared that “Being an SLO has been the most rewarding part of my career...ever.” While he’s proud to make a positive impact on students at Birmingham Falls Elementary School, moments like this are proof that the kids leave a lasting impact on him, too.

Thank you to Sadie and Brandy for such a meaningful gift and for making the end of the school year a little more special.

On Memorial Day, our community came together to honor the service members who gave their lives in defense of our country.

Residents, veterans, first responders, elected officials, and community leaders gathered to remember and recognize their sacrifice. From the Presentation of Colors to the heartfelt remarks and musical tributes, the ceremony served as a reminder that Memorial Day is about those who never made it home.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in honoring the fallen and helping ensure their service and sacrifice are never forgotten.

Milton parents and teens, now that school is out and summer plans are coming together, here’s an opportunity to do something different this July!

Milton PD’s Teen Police Academy gives teens ages 14-19 an inside look at law enforcement through hands-on activities, real-world scenarios, and time spent learning directly from officers.

Participants will:
• Learn CPR skills
• Experience the rollover simulator
• Explore criminal and accident investigations
• Hear from North Fulton SWAT
• And much more

It’s free, local, and designed to give teens a better understanding of the work, teamwork, and decision-making that happens every day in policing.

The deadline to apply is Friday, June 12, by the end of the day.

For details, contact Officer Sanford at [email protected] or visit www.miltonga.gov/teenpoliceacademy.

Memorial Day is a time to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to this country and the people they loved.

Behind every name etched into history is a family, a story, and a sacrifice that never stops being felt.

We are grateful for those who answered the call to serve and paid the ultimate price protecting freedoms we experience every day without a second thought. Their courage and sacrifice will not be forgotten.

From all of us at the Milton Police Department, we remember and honor the fallen this Memorial Day.

Police Week may be over, but moments like this are worth sharing!

A few days ago, we received an email from a community member who shared that she and her friends attended the blood drive at Stonecreek Church. Along the way, they had the chance to meet and talk with several members of our department, including Officer Ma, and left with a few Milton PD shirts as a thank you!

It was a reminder that our community continues to show up in meaningful ways, whether it’s through a conversation, a handshake, or a blood donation that could help someone they’ll never meet.

To everyone who donated, volunteered, or simply took the time to stop by during Police Week, THANK YOU! Milton’s community support is something we never take for granted.
