We won't leaf you hanging: Flower pots and trays (aka flats) do NOT go in the recycling. Some garden centers may take them back, but you'll need to ask before you donate. Splitting plants? 🌱 Be sure to disinfect all pots and trays you give away to make sure you don't pass along any invasives (like jumping worms and black swallow wort).

Take the guesswork out of recycling: Check RecycleSmartMA.org to see what goes in (and stays out of) your bin.

Nothing like a hot drink on a cold morning. ☕ Level up your caffeine fix by bringing your own reusable mug—many coffee shops will serve your drink in it! Need to go with a paper cup? Brew-tiful news: Paper cups are now recyclable in MA. Remove the lid and recycle the empty paper cup.

But seriously: When it comes to plastic recycling, focus on the shape, not the number. The ""chasing arrows"" do NOT indicate whether you can recycle an item!

Plastic bottles, jars, jugs, tubs, and clear deli containers = recyclable. ♻️ Check our Smart Recycling Guide at RecycleSmartMA.org to find quick tips on what to put in your bin.

The Town is preparing for the 2026 Lead Service Replacement Project to kick off starting in May.

Work under this project includes replacing identified lead water services lines at approximately 40 properties and completing approximately 500 test pit inspections to identify unknown water service line materials.

The project has been awarded to E.B. Rotondi, out of Stoneham, MA. Residents will start to receive notices from the contractor on Town Letterhead over the next few weeks. Residents may have also started to see dig safe/utility spray paint markings in the street or sidewalk in the proposed work areas in preparation for the work.

This project stems from the EPA's Lead Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) and is part of the Town's ongoing efforts to update and maintain the water service line inventory and remove lead pipes throughout the system.

More information about the project is available on the DPW's webpage:

In compliance  with the EPA's Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) the material of water services in the Town can be found and searched for in the link below.
