Bagdad Fire Rescue

Bagdad Fire Rescue The founding of Bagdad Fire Rescue started in 1962 with ten men. Dan Fowler became the first chief. In 1975 a third truck was built.

Since the station hadn't been built just yet, Bagdad Elementary provided a meeting place for the members to discuss business and other issues. DOF provided the first fire truck which was kept at the chief’s house until needed. When a call was dispatched, the chief would get the truck and take it to the scene while the chief's wife would call each firefighter, until all personnel were notified. Thr

ee years later, in 1965 the fire house was built on donated land and the second truck was acquired through donation. Bagdad became a fire district in the 1970s with a budget of only $40,000. In 1984 the first pagers were given out and the station was expanded to provide housing for the forth truck which was bought brand new. In 1997 brand new fire gear and a fifth truck was bought. The people of Bagdad and facilities from all over the community helped to make Bagdad what it is today. BVFD consists of about 31 members of both genders, two class-A 1,000 gallon pumpers, an E-1 rescue truck, an E-1 brush attack truck, and a 17' 5" Aqua Sport boat. BVFD proudly serves Bagdad and all of the neighboring communities. We thank you for allowing us to provide service to you for over 50 years.

Thank you, Lisa, for making this happen. 💪

A sincere thank you to our partners at Bagdad Fire Rescue!

This morning, Assistant Chief N. Anderson and Lisa Howard presented Chief Tifft and Lt. Erlemann with a check for $481.12 made payable to the SRSO Star Foundation. This donation comes from proceeds raised during our March Battle of the Badges Kickball Game.

The total funds from the event were split equally between the SRSO Star Foundation and the Bagdad Volunteer Fund, supporting both organizations and their continued service to the community.

We truly appreciate everyone who participated and helped make this event a success.

We are already looking forward to the next Battle of the Badge

To our 911 Telecommunicators,

We want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for the incredible work you do every single day. While your voices are often the only part of your presence, the public experiences, your impact reaches far beyond what most people ever see.

In moments of fear, chaos, and uncertainty, you are the calm in the storm. You answer calls that others couldn’t imagine handling, offering reassurance, guidance, and swift action when it matters most. Your ability to stay composed under pressure, to think clearly in critical situations, and to provide lifesaving instructions is nothing short of extraordinary.

Though you work behind the scenes, your role is essential. You are the first link in the chain of emergency response; the steady voice that helps save lives before help even arrives. Your compassion, resilience, and dedication do not go unnoticed, even if they are not always visible.

Thank you for the sacrifices you make, the long hours you endure, and the emotional strength you carry. Thank you for being there on someone’s worst day and helping turn it into a story of survival and hope.

Your work matters. You matter. And you are deeply appreciated.

With sincere gratitude,

Bagdad Volunteer Firefighters
