Positions: Volunteer Firefighter, Career Firefighter, and Engineer

Location: East Milton, Florida

Position Overview
Volunteer and Career Firefighter - The Firefighter position is responsible for performing emergency response duties, including fire suppression, rescue operations, emergency medical assistance, and hazard mitigation. Firefighters also participate in routine training, equipment maintenance, and community outreach activities.
Engineer - The Engineer position is responsible for the safe operation, driving, and pumping of fire apparatus during emergency and non‑emergency incidents. Engineers support the crew by ensuring readiness and reliability of all assigned vehicles and equipment, while also performing standard firefighter duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Volunteer Firefighter:
18 years old
High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid Florida driver’s license
Ability to meet physical and medical standards for duty
Firefighter:
State of Florida Firefighter II Certification
Current EMR or higher (EMT preferred)
Valid Florida driver’s license
Ability to meet physical and medical standards for duty
Engineer:
All Firefighter qualifications listed above
Documented experience operating fire apparatus
Current EVOC certification
Minimum 2+ years experience as firefighter
Completion of Florida State Pump Operator certification within 1 year of hire date
Preferred Qualifications
Florida EMT Certification
Previous municipal or district fire service experience
Additional fire service training or specialized certifications
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Respond to fire, rescue, and medical emergencies
Operate within established safety and incident command protocols
Conduct daily checks, maintenance, and documentation for apparatus and equipment
Participate in department training, drills, and professional development
Assist with public education and community engagement initiatives
Maintain physical readiness and comply with department policies and procedures
Work Environment
These positions requires shift work, operation in hazardous environments, exposure to extreme weather, and physically demanding tasks. Personnel must be able to perform all essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
