Last week, our officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle that had been obtained through identity theft near the 1300-Block of Great Mall Parkway. Officers quickly found the vehicle and contacted the driver, a 43-year-old from San Jose, who initially tried provided a false name during the investigation. Officers quickly determined her true identity and discovered she had a felony warrant related to fi****ms offenses, burglary, and drug paraphernalia charges.

During a search, officers also found additional narcotics, U.S. Postal Service Keys, several fraudulent documents, and additional weapons-related offenses. The suspect was ultimately booked into jail for her outstanding warrant and the additional charges stemming from the investigation.

This case highlights another proactive case and strong teamwork between our officers and detectives to help keep our community safe. Great job by everyone involved! 👏🚔

May is National Bicycle Safety Month! 🚴⚡

With the growing popularity of e-bikes, it’s important to know the difference between bicycles, e-bikes, and electric motorcycles in California.

🚲 Traditional Bicycle
• Human-powered only

⚡ E-Bikes (3 Classes)
• Class 1 & 2: Up to 20 mph
• Class 3: Up to 28 mph, riders must be 16+ and wear a helmet
• No license, registration, or insurance required for e-bikes

🏍️ Electric Motorcycles
• Faster and more powerful than e-bikes
• Require a motorcycle license, registration, insurance, and DOT-approved helmet

Parents, please make sure your children ride safely, wear helmets, follow traffic laws, and stay visible. Motorists, please continue watching out for bicyclists and e-bike riders on our roadways.

Let’s work together to keep our community safe! 🚴💙

🚔 A mail thief thought they got away but our detectives had other plans.

Earlier this month, Milpitas Police officers responded to a report of a subject breaking into a mailroom near the 1800-Block of S. Milpitas Blvd. Thanks to surveillance footage, collaborative investigative follow-up, and the persistence of our detectives, a 44-year-old from San Jose was identified and a felony warrant was obtained for her arrest.

Last week, detectives served a search warrant at the suspect’s residence and recovered stolen mail, driver licenses, identification cards, an embosser, fraudulent documents, and drug-related paraphernalia. The suspect was arrested on multiple fraud, identity theft, and drug-related charges and was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

This case is a great reminder that even small pieces of evidence can make a big difference. If you believe you’ve been the victim of mail or package theft, please report it. Security camera footage, photos, or witness information can provide valuable leads that help us identify suspects and recover stolen property.

🚓🔥 Carrying the Flame of Hope! 🔥🚓
This past Friday, members of the Milpitas Police Department proudly participated in the annual Torch Run for Special Olympics Northern California. Along the route, we received the Flame of Hope from the Newark Police Department before passing it on to the California Highway Patrol, helping continue a tradition that represents courage, determination, and inclusion.

The Special Olympics Northern California organization provides life-changing athletic training and competition opportunities for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, empowering athletes to reach their full potential both on and off the field.

A special thank you to our amazing community for your continued support. Through our Tip-A-Cop and Badges with Buckets fundraisers, together we raised more than $5,000 to support Special Olympics athletes and programs. Your generosity helps make a meaningful difference in the lives of so many.

We are honored to support an organization that inspires us all through perseverance, sportsmanship, and the power of community. 💙🏅
