.. that today is I Love Lucy Day? This day celebrates the 1951 debut of one of television's all-time greatest shows: I Love Lucy. As TIME reported in May of 1952, the show set a world record as "the first regularly scheduled TV program to be seen in 10 million U.S. homes." The estimated total audience consisted of more than 30 million people, or nearly a fifth of the whole population of the country!

.. that today is Fannie Farmer Cooking School Day? On this day in 1902, pioneering cookbook author Fannie Farmer, who changed the way Americans prepare food by advocating the use of standardized measurements in recipes, opened Miss Farmer's School of Cookery in Boston. In addition to teaching women about cooking, Farmer later educated medical professionals about the importance of proper nutrition for the sick.
