..ELEVATED RISK OF WILDFIRE SPREAD TODAY...

The combination of marginally dry and breezy conditions will
create an elevated risk of wildfire spread across most of central
Pennsylvania today. Minimum relative humidity values will be
around 30 percent with wind gusts from the south between 15 and 25
mph.

For more information about wildfire danger and wildfire
prevention and education, please visit the Pennsylvania Department
of Conservation and Natural Resources website at

Most of PA has seen precipitation over the last several days, improving drought conditions. However, some locations in PA still remain and show signs of long-term impacts from drought. Drought conditions are good indicators of potential fire danger. Fuels such as leaves, dead grass, twigs and small branches can easily dry due to windy weather. Until vegetation begins to grow and green up, much of PA remains in spring fire season. Please do not burn until conditions improve.

S-211 is a prerequisite to become a Nationally Qualified Firefighter Type 1, Squad Boss. We appreciate members who go above and beyond to expand their experiences and serve leadership roles within our organization. Special thanks to Jeremy Hamilton with the Bureau of Forestry, Field Day Instructors, Millheim Fire Company #1, Miles Township Fire Company, and the Bald Eagle Forest District.
