๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ Millis DTC endorses Tamisha Civil for Governor's Council, District 2.
โš–๏ธ The Governor's Council is the eight-member elected body that confirms judges, clerk magistrates, and Parole Board members, and votes on pardons and commutations. Most voters skip this line on the ballot. It shapes who sits on the bench in Massachusetts for decades.
๐Ÿ“‹ Councillor Civil has held the District 2 seat since January 2025. Before that, she spent four years as a victim witness advocate in the Suffolk County DA's office and six years as a Massachusetts probation officer, and worked in a domestic violence shelter. She holds a master's in criminal justice and leadership from Northeastern.
๐Ÿ” She knows the courts from both sides: from the side of crime victims and from the side of people on probation. She also knows what a wrongful conviction costs. Her cousin spent 27 years in prison for a crime he did not commit.
โœ… That is the experience we want reviewing judicial nominees.
๐Ÿ“ Millis is in District 2. Tamisha Civil is on the ballot Tuesday, November 3. Vote the whole ballot.

MILLIS DEMOCRACY ENDORSES DJUNA PERKINS FOR NORFOLK COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY
The Norfolk DA's office prosecutes crimes in all 27 of our county's cities and towns, Millis included. After the Karen Read and Sandra Birchmore cases, too many of our neighbors stopped trusting that office to treat everyone equally. We believe that trust has to be rebuilt, and we believe Djuna Perkins is the right person to rebuild it.
Why Djuna:
โœ… 30+ years as a Massachusetts lawyer, nearly 10 as a prosecutor (Assistant Attorney General and Suffolk County ADA)
โœ… Decades representing crime victims and investigating abuse in schools and workplaces
โœ… Endorsed by former AG Scott Harshbarger, former Suffolk DA Ralph Martin, and Progressive Massachusetts
โœ… She stepped up in 2024, when challenging an entrenched DA was not the safe move
Her commitment is simple: no one gets different treatment under the law because of political connections, money, or privilege. Protect victims. Prosecute those who harm others. Keep every resident safe.
Millis backed her in the September primary. Let's finish the job.

๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ Every vote counts, but only if it gets counted.

Early voting is underway, and some ballots are already being rejected for small, fixable mistakes like a missing signature on the envelope. The VoPro Pros calling team is phone banking 5 days a week through mid-November to help Democratic voters in battleground states fix ("cure") those errors so their votes count.

Why it matters: in some races, the number of ballots cured has been larger than the final margin of victory. A handful of votes can decide an election.

๐Ÿ“ž No phone banking experience needed. You'll get training, a script, and support at every session. Volunteers tell us these are some of the most rewarding calls they've made: grateful voters, fixed ballots, votes counted.

We've posted all the details on our website:

We face a clear threat: a coordinated effort to undermine our democracy by disrupting elections, blocking voters from their ballots, tossing out our votes, and denying official results.

The attacks we face arenโ€™t just coming from politicians. In fact, Meta unexpectedly suspended the No Kings Coalitionโ€™s Instagram account () yesterday without any justification given. After intense public backlash, Meta claimed they โ€œgot this wrongโ€ โ€” their explanation simply does not line up with reality. This incident was a stark reminder of how vulnerable movements are to powerful institutions trying to silence grassroots voices, and why we must stay organized and use our collective voice to fight back against injustices.

Now, we must ensure every valid vote is counted, certified, and protected. That means channeling the incredible energy from Saturday into total readiness for election defense and rapid response should it be required.

๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ NINE questions. Decide before you go.
๐Ÿ“„ The November 3 ballot carries nine statewide questions, the most since 1994. Expect two to three pages. There won't be time to read them all in the booth.
๐Ÿ‘€ Two to watch:
๐ŸŒฟ Q8: YES bans recreational ma*****na sales.
โš–๏ธ Q9: YES keeps the 2024 gun law. NO repeals it.
๐Ÿงญ Learn what each vote does. Millis Democracy is hosting a non-partisan review session where we'll walk through the text of each question and explain what a YES or NO vote actually does. Information, not persuasion.
๐Ÿ“ Room 229, Millis Town Hall
๐Ÿ“… Thursday, October 22 ยท 6:30 PM
๐Ÿ“Š Can't make it? The chart below shows recommendations from four groups: Progressive Mass, the League of Women Voters, the Mass. Democrats, and the Mass. Republicans. Screenshot it and take it with you.
๐Ÿ“˜ Want more detail? The state's Red Booklet for voters and the nonpartisan guides from Tufts' Center for State Policy Analysis explain each question.
โœ… Early voting is open now through October 30.
๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Election Day is Tuesday, November 3.
