Good Afternoon from the Mid-South,

The torch has officially been passed…. Back! OSC Mullen has taken over for OSC Oneil as the OS E5 & Junior Sea Detailer.

For those who have been around a while, this isn’t OSC Mullen’s first rodeo—he previously served as the detailer as well, so he already knows what he signed up for: endless emails, “quick questions,” and Sailors realizing their #10 pick was actually their dream billet.

All jokes aside, thank you to OSC Oneil for the hard work taking care of the OS community, and welcome back to the chaos OSC Mullen.

Good Afternoon from the Mid-South,

If you currently have orders to Bahrain 🇧🇭 or have been selected for a billet in Bahrain 🇧🇭 and are now trying to get out of the orders that you called, emailed, begged, applied for, and listed as your #1-5… please remember this specific line of bravery and courage:

“I (state your full name) do solemnly swear to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic…”

We are NOT changing anyone’s orders until we receive OFFICIAL guidance to do so. As your Detailers, we do not own or possess the authority to make that decision on our own.

Right now, we are all standing in the same limbo line. As soon as official word is received, action on orders and billet selections will take place immediately.

I know many of you have already heard this, and it’s probably not the answer you want — but unfortunately, it’s the only answer we have right now.

🚨 NSA Mid-South Closure Update (Surprise! 🙃) 🚨

Guess what… the weather is still weathering, so NSA Mid-South will be CLOSED again tomorrow, Friday. Shocking. Truly. We’re all stunned.

Another day of working in my Snuggie… I’ll take it!

📧 The detailers will be working from home, glued to email like it owes us money…. Not really👀
💡 Email is the ONLY acceptable form of communication.

🚫 Please do NOT attempt to reach us via:
• Personal phone numbers
• Personal social media accounts
• Showing up “just to check”
• Smoke signals
• Carrier pigeons
• Or ravens (they’re grounded due to weather too. Sorry OS2… still no ravens)

We’ll keep “playing it by ear” because that’s all the weather allows us to do. More updates to follow… probably… when the snow melts… in 2037.

🚨 NSA Mid-South Closure Update 🚨

Mother Nature has once again chosen chaos, and NSA Mid-South remains CLOSED. They may open back up on Friday, but we’re officially playing it by ear and letting the weather decide our fate.

❄️ Snow. Ice. Memphis doing Memphis things.

💻 The detailers are working from home, fully operational and fueled by caffeine and sarcasm.
📧 EMAIL remains the best (and only) way to communicate.
🚫 Please do not contact us via personal phone numbers or personal social media accounts.
🦅 And for the love of all things Navy… we will NOT be accepting messages sent by ravens👀, carrier pigeons, smoke signals, or other medieval communication methods.

We’ll keep everyone updated as conditions change. Until then, stay safe, stay warm, and continue blaming the weather for literally everything. ⚓️❄️

❄️ Winter Ops Update ❄️

Mother Nature chose violence again, so due to the snow and ice Memphis received this past weekend, the Detailers will be working from home again on Tuesday. Safety first… even when the city shuts down over one good snowstorm.

🚨 WEATHER ALERT: MID-SOUTH EDITION 🚨

Due to our once-a-year snow storm (you know… the one), NSA Mid-South will be closing this afternoon and will remain closed until Tuesday morning.

One snowflake falls and the entire town collectively says, “Nope.”
Milk and bread have vanished. Roads are suddenly “impassable.” And everyone pretends they’ve never seen snow before.

📌 Detailers will be working from home on Monday, so email is still the best way to reach us while we embrace our inner snow-day survivors.

Stay safe, stay warm, enjoy the unexpected snow day, and we’ll see everyone back Tuesday morning when the South remembers how to function again. ❄️🤣

THE JICO!!!!!!!

While out in Millington this week, JICO made a legendary appearance to come see the OS detailers—not just for the JICO party they had downstairs, but because he’s always showing up for his Sailors.

Out West, he’s known as the ‘people’s people’.
The kind of leader who doesn’t just shake hands and kiss babies…. he advocates, he listens, and he goes to bat for his Sailors when it matters most.

Morale? Boosted.
Sailors? Supported.
OS Detailers? Blessed by his presence.
