Whether you are a new resident or have called Millington home for years, here is a helpful guide to City sanitation services. Save this post for future reference!

WHERE SHOULD I PLACE MY CART?
Place your City refuse cart curbside in front of your home, on the grassy area between the curb and sidewalk, or at the end of your driveway unless otherwise instructed by the Public Works Department.
• Carts should be in place before 7 a.m. on your scheduled collection day.
• Do not place carts or trash around telephone poles, mailboxes, or other obstacles.
• Make sure vehicles or other objects are not blocking access to your cart or additional trash.
• Carts should be moved back to the side of your home within 24 hours after collection.
• Residents with physical limitations that prevent them from placing their carts out for collection should contact the Sanitation Department for waiver information.

WHAT IF I HAVE MORE TRASH THAN WILL FIT IN MY CART?
We understand that you may occasionally have more household trash than will fit in your City-issued cart.
Residents may place up to two additional bags of garbage alongside their cart. Bags must be tied and weigh less than 40 pounds each.
If you regularly have more trash than will fit in your cart, you may be required to lease an additional cart.

WHAT DOES THE CITY NOT COLLECT?
Tires: The City does not collect used tires. Tires must be stored and disposed of in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.
Contractor-Generated Trash: If you hire a contractor to perform work at your home, the contractor is responsible for removing any trash, limbs, or debris generated by that work. Contractor-generated debris may not be stacked along the street and will not be collected by the City.
Trash From Another Property: City sanitation service is for refuse generated at the property receiving service. Trash or debris brought from another property or location will not be collected.

GRASS CLIPPINGS & BAGGED LEAVES
Grass clippings and bagged leaves will be collected when:
• Placed inside your City-provided refuse cart, OR
• Placed in closed, tied bags weighing less than 40 pounds each.
Bags should be placed on or beside your refuse cart in the appropriate collection area.
Do not place loose grass clippings in the street. Loose grass clippings will only be collected when properly bagged.

TREE LIMBS & YARD DEBRIS
Did you clean up or trim trees in your own yard? The City will collect qualifying tree limbs when each piece does not exceed:
• 6 feet in length and 12 inches in width, OR
• 4 feet in length and 24 inches in diameter.
Limbs and yard debris must be placed where City equipment can safely reach them. Please keep piles away from vehicles, light poles, fire hydrants, drains, and other obstacles.

LOOSE LEAF COLLECTION
The City offers loose leaf collection Nov. 1 through March 15.
Place leaves near the street so City employees can collect them safely without creating a hazard or blocking stormwater flow.
Do not mix anything with your loose leaves, including limbs, glass, bricks, rocks, or concrete. These materials can damage City equipment and are dangerous to employees performing the work.

WHAT ABOUT HOLIDAYS?

🎉 Final Week to Share Your Thoughts!

📍Final Feedback Opportunity at the Millington Family YMCA

Over the past month, we've had the opportunity to visit locations across Millington, giving residents a chance to learn more about the Millington Family YMCA's proposed facility improvements and celebrate 25 years of serving our community.

To everyone who has stopped by, viewed the renderings, and shared feedback, thank you. Your participation has been an important part of this planning process.

This week marks the final opportunity to participate. The feedback boards are now available at the Millington Family YMCA, where visitors can review the plans and submit their comments before the campaign concludes.

The Millington Family YMCA has served generations of families over the past 25 years, and with your feedback, it can continue to grow and serve generations to come.

Thank you, Millington, for helping shape the future of your YMCA.
