In 2008, I was 19 years old and looking for a job so I could buy my first car and begin my adult life. That summer, I was offered a temporary position at the Register of Wills office. What started as a temporary job became a lifelong career and a calling.
Last night, nearly 18 years of hard work, dedication, and service came full circle. I am incredibly proud of this victory, but even more proud of the people who helped make it possible.
To the elected officials who believed in me from day one, thank you. To the candidates I had the privilege of campaigning alongside and now proudly call friends, thank you. To every volunteer who knocked doors, made calls, sent texts, put up signs, and shared words of encouragement, thank you.
To my friends and family, especially my children, thank you for your unwavering love and support throughout this journey. Your sacrifices made this possible.
To my Chief Deputy, supervisors, and the entire Register of Wills staff, this victory belongs to you as much as it belongs to me. I am fortunate to work alongside a team that shows up every day committed to serving the people of Anne Arundel County with professionalism, compassion, and integrity. We have always believed in working together to get the job done, and this campaign was no different. It was the very definition of teamwork.
I also want to thank my opponent, Courtney Buiniskis, for her hard work and commitment throughout this race. Running a countywide campaign is no easy task, especially in a courthouse election, and I appreciate her willingness to step forward and participate in the democratic process.
Last night, I was humbled by the trust that the voters of Anne Arundel County have placed in me. This election was never about politics for me, it was about service. It was about protecting an office that serves families during some of the most difficult moments in their lives. I look forward to continuing the work we've started, strengthening our office, continuing outreach, and ensuring every resident receives the compassionate service they deserve.
The campaign continues, but my commitment remains the same: to serve the people of Anne Arundel County with integrity, compassion, and professionalism. Thank you, and I'll see you on the campaign trail as we head to November.
