Are you looking for an exciting way to keep your students engaged this summer? The hands-on summer camps and skills programs at the Fairfield County Workforce Center are designed to spark creativity, build confidence, and introduce students to exciting career pathways!

The summer camps and skills programs offer a variety of opportunities for both middle school students and high school students (9th & 10th grade), including interactive experiences in healthcare, construction, STEM, industrial technology, and drones.

Blacklick Road NE Closure May 18 – June 12

The Fairfield County Engineer’s Office is announcing that the following road will be closed for the dates listed below:

Blacklick Road NE (TR 110) will be closed on Monday, May 18, 2026, through Friday, June 12, 2026. This closure will take place on Blacklick Rd NE, between Cherry Ln NE and Lancaster-Newark Rd (S.R. 37).

Construction will take place between the intersection of Blacklick Rd NE and Cherry Ln and the address of 155 Blacklick Rd NE.

*** April 4, 2026 is “Nicholas (Nick) Robertson Day!" ***

Walnut Township is proud to share that the Board of Trustees has officially proclaimed April 4, 2026 as “Nicholas (Nick) Robertson Day.”

Nick, the son of our Assistant Fire Chief, has demonstrated incredible strength and resilience while battling T Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma since December 2023. As he completes his cancer treatments, our community has the opportunity to come together and celebrate this important milestone.

A community celebration, “Nick Fest” (also known as the “NO-MO-CHEMO” celebration), will be held:

Saturday, April 4, 2026
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Millersport Lions Club

At 1:15 PM, Nick will participate in the ceremonial ringing of the bell to mark the completion of his treatments—a meaningful symbol of perseverance and hope.

The event will include a parade, live entertainment, food, guest speakers, a raffle, and a 50/50 drawing. Nick, with the help of many supporters, has organized this event to give back to the community that supported him throughout his journey.

The Walnut Township Board of Trustees encourages all residents to attend, meet Nick, and celebrate this remarkable accomplishment with him and his family.

The Walnut Township Fire Department is reminding us that there is a statewide daytime outdoor burn ban in effect from March 1 through May 31. Outdoor burning is prohibited from 6:00 AM until 6:00 PM during this time.

INVITATION TO BID
Sealed proposals will be received at the Office of the Fairfield County Engineer; 3026 West Fair Avenue; Lancaster, Ohio 43130, until 11:45 a.m. local time on Friday, March 27, 2026, for furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to complete the project known as Lakeside Phase 1 Drainage Project, and at said time and place, publicly opened and read aloud.

A mandatory Prebid Meeting will be held on March 18, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at the Office of the Board of Walnut Township Trustees; 11420 Millersport Road NE; Millersport, OH 43046.

Contract documents, bid sheets, plans, and specifications must be obtained via the web at www.co.fairfield.oh.usEngineer or at said office for a non-refundable fee of $15.00. To be considered a responsive and responsible bidder, bidder must be recorded on plan holders list at said office.

Each bidder is required to furnish with its proposal a Bid Guaranty and Contract Bond in accordance with Section 153.54 of the Ohio Revised Code. Bid security furnished in Bond form shall be issued by a Surety Company or Corporation licensed in the State of Ohio to provide said surety.

Each Proposal must contain the full name of the party or parties submitting the proposal and all persons interested therein. Each bidder must submit evidence of its experiences on projects of similar size and complexity. The Owner intends and requires that this project must be completed no later than September 25, 2026 with work to be completed within a ten (10) consecutive week period.

All Contractors and Subcontractors involved with the project will, to the extent practicable, use Ohio products, materials, services, and labor in the implementation of their project. Additionally, Contractor compliance with the Equal Employment Opportunity requirements of Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 123, Governor’s Executive Order of 1972, and Governor’s Executive Order 84-9 shall be required.

Bidders must comply with the Ohio Prevailing Wage Rates on this Public Improvement in Fairfield County, Ohio as determined by the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services, Wage and Hour Division, 614-644-2239.

The Board of Walnut Township Trustees reserve the right to waive irregularities and to reject any or all bids.
