Holmes County Auditor‘s office has partnered with Holmes County Soil and Water to conduct inspections of farming properties that are enrolled in the Current Agricultural Use Value (CAUV) program. The CAUV program provides tremendous tax savings to commercial agricultural property owners who qualify. The inspection is required by the Ohio Revised Code. It is intended to assure that parcels currently in the program continue to be eligible. For questions call 330-674-1896, Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30.

The deadline to register or renew your 2026 dog license in Holmes County has been extended. On January 29, 2026, the Holmes County Commissioners in coordination with the Dog Warden’s Department and Auditor’s Office passed a resolution to extend the deadline for citizens to purchase their 2026 dog licenses to February 28, 2026. Tags can be renewed or purchased without penalty until February 28, 2026.
After switching dog licenses software for the 2026 dog licenses season it was brought to the Dog Warden’s attention that some dog owners did not receive their renewal application in the mail due to a possible glitch or error in data transfer from the old system. This issue should be resolved for the 2027 dog license season. Although renewal applications are not required to be mailed out, we understand that these sometimes serve as reminders for citizens to renew their dog licenses. The county has decided to give dog owners an extra month to renew dog licenses without the penalty.
After January 31, 2026, dog owners can purchase their dog licenses either online at https://www.doglicenses.us/OH/Holmes/, at the Holmes County Auditor’s Office located at 75 East Clinton Street Millersburg, Ohio, 44654, or at the Holmes County Dog Warden’s Department located at 5387 County Road 349 Millersburg, Ohio, 44654. Our satellite stores will not sell tags during the month of February. PSA AND REMINDER
Holmes County switched up our dog licensing software this year for a cheaper and more efficient system. With that being said we have been getting calls that some people have not received their applications in the mail. If you have not received your 2026 Application in the mail please reach out to the Auditors or the Dog Warden's Department. You can also purchase your licenses online at https://www.doglicenses.us/OH/Holmes/
The deadline for registration is January 31, 2026 after this date the fee will double.

Reminding residents of a feature on the Holmes County Auditor’s website. Property owners can visit the website at www.holmescountyauditor.org and search for their property by name, address or parcel number. Once the parcel is up, election ballot information will be at the top of summary page. Click on “More Information” for detailed levy material. This feature will allow voters to be informed prior to going to the polls on what the proposed issues mean to their wallets. It will also assist taxpayers in knowing what the estimated increases will be to their upcoming tax bill due to the passage of the levies by majority of the voters.

Jackie McKee, Holmes County Auditor, is alerting local business owners that the fee for new vendor’s licenses in Ohio will increase from $25 to $50 starting on April 9.

This statewide increase comes as a result of Ohio House Bill 366, which was passed by the General Assembly last year.

The additional $25 will go directly to the newly established Organized Retail Theft Task Force, which was created to tackle retail theft issues across Ohio.
