Yesterday morning at Millersburg Elementary School was truly special!! I had the honor of reading a Proclamation as students prepared for their last day today, marking the end of an era before everyone comes together next year in the new building.

The Principal, Mr. Fowler, asked me to share a little about my job, and I told the students that I run council meetings and help people. I then asked how many of them help people too — and so many hands shot into the air!

Afterward, a little girl came up to me and said she might want to be Mayor someday. That absolutely made my day. Moments like that are a reminder of how bright the future of our community truly is!!

I also want to thank all of the teachers and staff at Millersburg Elementary School for your dedication to the future of our community. The impact you make on these students every single day matters more than words can express! I hope each of you has a wonderful and well-deserved summer!

Today is not about barbecues, sales, or a long weekend. Memorial Day is a sacred day of remembrance for the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our Country. Their sacrifice secured the freedoms we enjoy every day, and we owe them a debt that can never truly be repaid.

As we spend time with family and friends today, may we pause to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the United States of America. We remember their courage, their service, and the families who carry their memory forward every day.

May we never forget that freedom is not free. 🇺🇸

As we head into Memorial Day Weekend, I hope everyone has a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable time with family and friends.

While we enjoy the freedoms and moments that make this weekend special, let us also take time to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day — honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Their courage and service will never be forgotten!

Wishing everyone a meaningful and safe Memorial Day Weekend!

Shopping local in Millersburg does more than support small businesses — it supports families, jobs, community events, and is the heart of our Village. Every dollar spent locally helps keep our downtown vibrant and thriving.

Thank you for continuing to support the small businesses that make Millersburg so special! ❤️

I received this from Holmes County Emergency Management:

Well, the good news is the sun is shining, and warmer weather has finally entered our area. The bad news is that we could experience strong to severe storms this evening and again Tuesday evening.

Current forecast timing:
Today: Late afternoon through early evening
Tuesday: Approximately 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM

All severe weather hazards could be possible, including:
Heavy localized downpours and possible flooding
Frequent lightning
Damaging straight-line winds
Large hail
An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out

Please stay weather aware over the next two days and make sure you have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts, especially during the overnight and evening hours.

Thunderstorm Safety Tips
Move indoors immediately when thunder is heard.
Avoid using corded electronics and plumbing during lightning.
Secure outdoor furniture or loose objects that could become airborne in high winds.
Never drive through flooded roadways — “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
Keep mobile devices charged in case of power outages.

Tornado Safety Tips
Identify your safest shelter location now before storms arrive.
The safest place is a basement or the lowest level of a sturdy building.
Stay in an interior room away from doors and windows.
Protect your head and neck with blankets, pillows, or a helmet if available.
If you are in a mobile home, seek sturdy shelter immediately.

Watch vs. Warning
Watch: Conditions are favorable for severe weather or tornadoes to develop. Be prepared and monitor weather conditions closely.
Warning: Severe weather or a tornado is occurring or imminent. Take protective action immediately.

Please continue to monitor trusted weather sources such as the National Weather Service, local media (WKLM), weather radios, and emergency alert systems.
