These two examples are not in North Carolina but it is happening here as well.
For a lot of volunteer fire departments, budgets have shifted and a lot have went to having part time during the week during the day and having volunteers. We are one of those. Some have been able to provide some full time staffing but most can’t afford it. We are one of those as well that can’t afford full time staff. We have to have volunteers. We rely on our volunteers very heavily.
