The Milledgeville Police Department proudly congratulates Sergeant Tommy Puerto 👏 and Officer Eldin Elansary 👏 for successfully completing the Newton County Sheriff’s Office 50-hour Basic SWAT Training Course this week. 💪

With their completion of the course, we are proud to announce that all current operators assigned to our SRT Team 🚔 have now completed Basic SWAT Training — a significant milestone for our team and our department. ✅

Officer Elansary was also recognized with the Top Gun Award 🎯🏆 for the class, honoring his outstanding fi****ms performance throughout the course.

Under the direction and leadership of Chief Dray Swicord 👮‍♂️, the department has made significant strides in investing in the SRT Team through upgraded training and equipment. This includes adding less-lethal munitions, expanding drone capabilities, ensuring the entire team becomes Basic SWAT Certified ✅, and continuing forward toward SWAT Level 2 Certification 🛡️.

These advancements help ensure our community has a fully functional, fully trained, and fully equipped tactical team right here in Milledgeville. We are extremely grateful for the work our SRT operators have already done and are excited about the future of the team and the continued growth of the department. 📈

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Sheriff Ezell Brown, Lt. Tony Howard, and the Newton County, GA Sheriff’s Office 🤝 for providing this outstanding training opportunity to our operators.

We also thank the Friends of Milledgeville Police Foundation, Inc. for their support and assistance in helping ensure all of our operators were able to attend this important training.

Congratulations to Sgt. Puerto and Officer Elansary on this accomplishment and continued dedication to serving our community. 🇺🇸🚔

🚨 CINCO DE MAYO SAFETY MESSAGE 🚨

Tonight is a time to celebrate, enjoy good food, and spend time with friends and family—and we want everyone to have a great time. 🇲🇽🎉

But most importantly, we want everyone to make it home SAFE.

If you choose to drink, please plan ahead:
➡️ Have a designated driver
➡️ Call a cab
➡️ Stay where you are
➡️ Call someone you trust

Because if you decide to drive impaired, there’s a good chance you may see blue lights in your rearview mirror 🚔…
or worse, you may find yourself needing the help of our friends at Air Evac Lifeteam 140 - Milledgeville, GA 🚁and that’s a situation no one wants to be in.

Milledgeville Police Department officers will be out throughout the night actively patrolling to ensure our roads are safe for everyone. Our goal is simple: zero accidents and everyone gets home safely.

Enjoy your Cinco de Mayo but make smart decisions‼️

🍻 Celebrate responsibly.
🚫 Don’t drink and drive.
✅ Make it home safe.

The Milledgeville Police Department is proud to have partnered with the Georgia Military College Corps of Cadets during today’s community cleanup effort. 🌎🧹

Our officers assisted by providing traffic control 🚓 and slowing traffic down in the areas where cadets were actively working, helping ensure a safe environment for everyone involved. 🚧 Cadets focused their efforts along Dunlap Road, North Jefferson Street, and the downtown district, showing a strong commitment to service.

We sincerely appreciate their dedication and are grateful for this continued partnership as we work together to keep Milledgeville clean, safe, and beautiful. 🤝
