The Massachusetts Senate passed the Songy bill this morning. The bill now moves on to the House. This important bill would provide line of duty benefits to Joanne Songy who is the wife of Rutland Officer John Songy who succumbed to Covid-19 in the line of duty. This has been a long time coming and we appreciate the efforts of Sen. Durant and all those who have been instrumental in getting this passed in the Senate.

A true hero who saved lives by sacrificing his own. You will never be forgotten Trooper Trainor.

TODAY WE HONOR A HERO
Today, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts lays to rest a son of the Commonwealth, Massachusetts State Trooper Kevin Trainor, who was taken from us far too soon at just 30 years old.

Please remember to make sure your flags remain at half-staff until sunset in honor of Trooper Trainor’s service and sacrifice.

His funeral services will be carried live throughout the day on several Boston television stations as thousands gather to pay their respects to a young man who proudly wore the uniform and dedicated his life to protecting others.

Please keep Trooper Trainor’s family, friends, loved ones, and brothers and sisters in law enforcement in your prayers today.

And when you have the opportunity, thank a trooper, police officer, firefighter, paramedic, dispatcher, correction officer, veteran, or anyone who serves and protects others.

We should never take their services and sacrifice for granted.

Another special night at the 33rd Annual National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO) Top Cops Awards. The stories of heroism and bravery are truly incredible. It is a privilege to honor these men and women who gave so much to protect their communities. A special congratulations to Officer Jose Rafael Valenzuela from the Boston PD for his heroic actions in subduing an armed subject in a Chick Fil A on Boylston St last year. His quick and decisive actions saved lives that day. Incredible work by all!!!!
