September 11th 2001...25 years ago. A day that will forever be remembered by those of us in public safety. We lost family, friends, colleagues and our basic sense of security on that day...BUT we came together as a country to heal and hold accountable those responsible for this heinous act. We will never forget this day. Please remember those who died on September 11th and those who have died all these years after, suffering from illnesses relating to their rescue efforts. September 11th 2001 started as a beautiful day. The weather was perfect, the sky was a brilliant blue. It seemed like any other day in the end of summer/beginning of fall season. It ended with an eerie silence with no planes in the air, with people very concerned for their safety. Many were trying to figure out if they knew anyone that perished. Many were mourning the death of their loved one. Many were trying to find their loved one because they were missing and they hadn't heard from them since the attack. It is easy to let time erase the memories of that day. We will NEVER let that happen. Remember what happened that day. Remember the people who perished and the people who loved them. Remember those who protected us that day. We will always remember our brothers and sisters who lost their lives on this tragic day protecting others.
