Dear Millbrook Community,
It's a very happy day for me, as I joyfully announce that I will be retiring as Town Clerk of the Town of Washington! As I wind down my final weeks, l am thrilled that Deputy Clerk Chrissy Briggs will be succeeding me as Town Clerk. It has been an honor to serve the residents of this community for 30 years. I appreciate the confidence of the Town Board that appointed a 28 year old, Millbrook transplant to such an amazing position. I loved getting to know so many of you and can honestly say, it's been a wonderful experience. Favorite parts of the job? 1 - Definitely meeting the young hunters that were excited to be getting their first license. Their enthusiasm to follow in the footsteps of their parents and grandparents and spend time in the great outdoors was always uplifting! 2nd - Issuing birth certificates to the handful of babies that were born at home in the Town of Washington. I loved welcoming these special little citizens!
What's next for me? We're fortunate to have found a cabin in the woods, a small little piece of forest in the Adirondacks! I knew it was the right decision when we were laughing around a campfire with two of our grown children and we witnessed four shooting stars and could hear the call of a loon just down the road! I didn't expect that we would be leaving Millbrook, yet it feels right at this time in our lives. Shortly, our much loved family home will be going on the market and we'll be saying good bye to a community that has been wonderful to us. Thank you everyone for allowing me to be a part of your lives!
Sincerely,
Mary Alex
