Ten volunteers, 6 yards of mulch, and 2½ hours later, our campus is looking great!

A huge thank you to the team from 7 Hills Church for spending part of their beautiful Friday afternoon serving our school community. Your willingness to give your time and energy helps keep Seipelt looking its best for our students, staff, and families.

We are grateful for community partners who roll up their sleeves and make a difference. Thank you for helping us get ready to continue SOARing Beyond the Shore! 🦅🌊. Milford Schools

It seems like it's been a long time since we last saw the kids at school, even though it's really only been a couple of weeks. Hopefully, you and your family are having a fantastic summer so far.

Can you believe we're already into the second week of June? Summer always seems to start with excitement and endless possibilities. Then, before long, parents begin hearing some familiar phrases:

"I'm bored."

"There's nothing to do."

"Can we go somewhere?"

If those comments have started making regular appearances in your house, you're not alone. While we're not quite ready to welcome everyone back to Seipelt just yet, there are plenty of great opportunities around Cincinnati to keep kids active, learning, and having fun.

Below you'll find a list of free local experiences, including parks, outdoor adventures, museums, libraries, and other family-friendly activities. Whether you're looking to spend an hour out of the house or make a day of it, there's something for everyone.

We hope you have a wonderful week, make some great family memories, and maybe even hear the words, "I'm not bored anymore!"

Enjoy the second week of summer!

Top Free Parks & Outdoor Fun

Looking for a way to get the kids out of the house without spending a dime? Cincinnati is full of fantastic parks that offer plenty of opportunities to play, explore, and burn off some energy.

🌳 Smale Riverfront Park
A family favorite along the riverfront featuring giant swings, creative playgrounds, a larger-than-life foot piano, climbing areas, and water features.

🌳 Washington Park
Located in Over-the-Rhine, this park offers a great playground, interactive water features, open green space, and plenty of room for a family picnic.

🌳 Mt. Airy Forest
One of Cincinnati's largest parks, featuring hiking trails, scenic views, a giant treehouse, and plenty of space to explore nature.

🌳 Summit Park
A modern park with an outstanding playground, walking trails, an observation tower, and family-friendly events throughout the summer.

💦 Spraygrounds & Water Play
Cool off on a hot summer day at free spraygrounds located throughout the Cincinnati area. Popular spots include Washington Park, Sawyer Point, Five Points (in Milford) and several neighborhood parks that offer splash pads and water features for children.

🦶 Creek Stomping Adventures
Put on an old pair of shoes and head outdoors for one of Cincinnati's classic summer activities. Parks such as California Woods Nature Preserve and French Park provide opportunities for kids to explore creek beds, look for wildlife, and experience nature up close. Or head down to Old Milford and enjoy our local river bank.

Whether your kids need to climb, run, explore, or simply enjoy a picnic lunch, these parks are great ways to make summer memories without spending a penny.

Free Cultural & Educational Experiences

Summer is a great time to sneak a little learning into your family's adventures. Fortunately, Cincinnati has several outstanding cultural and educational destinations that offer free opportunities to explore, create, and discover.

🎨 Cincinnati Art Museum
Enjoy free general admission year-round. Families will especially love the Rosenthal Education Center (REC), where children can participate in hands-on art activities and interactive exhibits.

🎭 Contemporary Arts Center
Admission is always free. Be sure to visit the UnMuseum, a unique hands-on space designed especially for children to explore creativity through interactive art experiences.

🔭 Cincinnati Observatory
Take a free stroll around the historic observatory grounds and learn about one of the nation's oldest observatories. Special telescope viewing programs are available for a fee, but exploring the site itself is free.

These destinations provide a great mix of creativity, history, science, and exploration and they're a wonderful reminder that some of the best summer learning experiences don't happen in a classroom.

Did you know that some of the most important literacy skills are built long before children start kindergarten?

The best part is that helping your child develop these skills doesn't require expensive programs or hours of work. Reading together, singing songs, talking during everyday activities, telling stories, and even playing simple rhyming games can make a huge difference.

My goal is to share quick, easy early literacy tips and resources to help our future Eagles build strong foundations for success. Small moments today can lead to big achievements tomorrow! Feel free to share with friends and family!

I almost forgot to wish our amazing Seipelt Elementary community a Happy 6-7 Day! 🎉

Lucky for us, 6-7 Day lands in the summer! A school day powered by sixes, sevens, and elementary students? That sounds like a math problem even our teachers might not want to solve!

🥞 Breakfast with a Buddy is Back for the 2026–2027 School Year! 🥞

We are excited to welcome families back for one of our newest favorite Seipelt traditions, Breakfast with a Buddy!

Mark your calendars now and plan to join your child for a special morning at school. We will kick things off with our Kindergarten and 1st Grade families in September and continue throughout the school year.

There is something special about starting the school day with breakfast, conversation, and the people who matter most. We look forward to welcoming you into the building and creating some great memories together.

More details will be shared as each event approaches. Until then, grab your calendar, save the dates, and get ready to SOAR Beyond the Shore with us this year! 🦅🌊☀️
