Good time today at the Milford School with a mandatory training day. We went over topics like mental health/EAP, sexual harassment, blood borne pathogens, gear inspections, lock out tag out and so much more! Many of these topics are mandatory annually by BLS standards, some by common sense! All taught by department personnel! Some of this training is dry.. but we got through it!

Great turnout of 24 members made it today !

At approximately 1530 Old Town Fire Rescue was dispatched to the lake for a working garage fire and invited us to come along and help!

800, 801, 802 and 807 responded with a crew of 8, supplied water from the opposite end of the lake to the fire through tankers and drafting water from the boat launch.

Special thanks to Greenbush Fire Department for manning our station and assisting with getting trucks back in service on their returns.

We talk a lot about mutual aide, training, fighting and playing together. This is exactly why!! ❤️

Great job by all!

Another special thanks to the home owners and anglers that we blocked in...everyone was super patient and supportive!

Tonight's training was a busy one!

Milford hosted training with Greenbush Fire Department with a obstacle course of sorts. Ladders and tools can be difficult together but a much, much needed necessity. We set ladders at some less than ideal angles and practiced going up 1. Down 2. Up 3 Down 4. Then on to a smaller ladder up and over a simulated roof and down. All while carrying a saw and tool.

Afterwards onto cutting a roof prop with a saw to make a vent hole. Then ....all over again. (We heard rumors of up to 6 trips!) Several trips were made, some smiles were made and well...things were trained.

Alway a great night sharing smiles and skills of the craft!!

This morning we were dispatched to a single vehicle Motorcycle crash. Fortunately only minor injuries, PT transported to NLEMMC.

Duty crew was supported by off duty crew members on call back.

PCSO assisted with investigation. Main road was shut down during the incident. Units 807, 801, 809, 808 responded.

Has any one else felt like new employees are continuously getting younger? And smaller? And..... hairier???

Meet Iris! This 7 year old thinks she is in charge now! Well at least can operate the trucks. I can just picture a comment like "im the Capitan now" Got to watch out for HR when we talk about the new employee who likes belly rubs and butt scratches!

What a busy day here in Milford! Doing calls and some public interaction at the Libby School for open door day! Kids, and Firefighters, do love firetrucks!

Today we had equipment inspections, so we took the opportunity to put the cold water rescue suits on and teach a few of the newer members how to put them on and get comfortable in them. Ok, comfortable might be a stretch, lol.

And what's a day without a bit of art and crafts! We are painting the short hose lines with the lengths marked out. This is done for quick deployment of the proper lenth. Some of our more senio.....experienced folks will like those large numbers!

Wait!!!??? School??? Ice water rescue??? Im thinking summer maybe almost over! Time for apple crisp and Pumpkin Spice!

What a gorgeous night!! What makes it better???

Working with our Mutual Aide partners! Greenbush Fire Department invited us up to do some drafting operations this evening. Being in a mixed hydrant and non hydrant community, drafting- or pulling water -from a pond, river, stream or (shhhh...swimming pool, lol) becomes a necessary skill!

It is always Great to work with our mutual aid partners! Thanks Greenbush for a great evening!!!
