Sunday evening at 16:56 The South Bowers Fire Department, along with Mutual Aid Departments (Little Creek 54), (Magnolia 55)was alerted to assist Bowers Fire 40 with a Water Rescue.

Airboat 57 responded, staffed by Chief Johnson and three personnel from Webbs Dock.

Airboat 57 made contact with the vessel in shallow water and extricated it after it had become beached just north of the St. Jones River entrance, with six persons on board.

The vessel was then towed to deeper water and subsequently transferred to Fireboat 40 and 55 Marine-1 for further tow-in operations.

Members attended a mutual aid live drill last night with Station 42, 52, 49, 75 and Sussex County Medics. During the drill, crews conducted searches, ventilation, and work with mutual aid companies at a large health care facility. This drill strengthen mutual aid relationships and built new skills for our junior members.

Tonight personnel spent the evening sharpening their vehicle rescue skills during hands on training. A big thank you to Jason Russell with Atlantic Emergency Solutions for bringing down tools for the crew to demo and assisting members with training and skill development.

South Bowers Fire Department has remained busy serving our community in 2026.

So far this year, our volunteers have responded to 70 calls for service including working fires, Fire incidents, water rescues, hazardous material incidents, medical emergencies, motor vehicle collisions, and traffic assists.

Every call is answered by dedicated volunteers who are committed to protecting the citizens and visitors of our community day or night, rain or shine.

Thank you to our members, neighboring departments, and the community for your continued support. We are 100% Volunteer!
