FWP managing small fire on Isaac Homestead WMA

MILES CITY – A small fire on Isaac Homestead Wildlife Management Area west of Hysham is proving to be stubborn for firefighters and area managers.
The fire, which is about five acres in size, is burning in grass, brush and some old cottonwood trees. The fire was started by a lightning strike earlier this week. Firefighters from multiple agencies have worked on the fire at various times this week. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks staff were on scene Thursday to address a few persistent hot spots.
“We want people to know there is a small fire and we’re working to address it. The WMA isn’t closed at this time, but it’s important for people to remain vigilant and do what they can to prevent fires,” said FWP Region 7 Wildlife Manager Brett Dorak.
For more information on FWP restrictions and closures, go to the FWP website.
For fire restrictions, FWP lands follow the restrictions of the county in which they are located. Make sure you know the fire restrictions in place, before recreating outdoors.

Intake FAS Boat Ramp Status

Recreationists thinking of launching their watercraft at the boat ramp at Intake FAS near Glendive are advised that they may want to make other plans. Current water levels in the Yellowstone River have rendered the Intake boat ramp as difficult to impossible to use for launching watercraft, or for removing watercraft from the river, depending on the size of the vessel. Staff will continue to monitor water levels and advise of any safety concerns that may arise.

Opportunities for other possible launch sites can be found through visiting this part of our website: https://myfwp.mt.gov/fishMT/explore

While this photo is not of the boat ramp itself, it gives an idea of what river flows on the Yellowstone River are like currently.
