I received a direct call from the National Weather Service regarding today's weather potential.
There is a risk for severe thunderstorms across all of Custer County this afternoon and evening. Storms could produce wind gusts up to 80 mph, large hail, and there is also a chance of an isolated tornado.
The current timing for storm development is after 2:00 PM.
While it's possible that nothing significant may occur in your area, it is always important to stay weather aware and be prepared. Make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts and warnings, especially this afternoon and evening.
Please monitor conditions closely and be ready to take action if warnings are issued.

**********Caution Bear Sighting***********

Be advised that a black bear has been spotted just north of the Yellowstone Bridge. The bear was seen by deputies crossing east on Highway 59 North.

SWATTING INCIDENT
On 05/11/2026 at approximately 12:27 officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired inside of the 600 Cafe. The caller was reported to have been hiding inside the bathroom. Officers responded and secured the area. Officers and South Eastern MT Dispatch worked together and quickly determined this call to be unfounded. These false 911 calls, often referred to as "SWATTING" incidents, are detrimental to public safety resources. Miles City Police will be investigating the source of this call. It is a criminal offense to make such false reports.
