πŸš›βœ¨ Street Sweeping Update βœ¨πŸš›

Our street sweeper has been out working hard cleaning the avenues, and they are looking great!
Thank you to everyone who has helped by keeping vehicles off the streets when possible and allowing our crews room to work. Regular street sweeping helps keep our community clean, improves stormwater drainage, and enhances the appearance of our neighborhoods.

If you see the sweeper in your area, please use caution and give the operator plenty of space to work safely.

We appreciate your cooperation as we continue working to keep our city looking its best! 🌳🏑

7th Avenue and Main Street Utility & Street Reconstruction Project

The City of Milbank will soon begin the 7th Avenue and Main Street Utility and Street Reconstruction Project. This project is designed to improve aging infrastructure, address drainage concerns, enhance accessibility, and provide a safer and more reliable street system for residents.

Construction is expected to begin in June or July 2026, starting with tree removals. Major utility and street improvements are anticipated to be completed by October 2026. The first layer of asphalt will be installed in the fall of 2026, with the final asphalt lift scheduled for spring 2027.

Improvements include:

βœ”οΈ Replacement of aging sanitary sewer infrastructure.

βœ”οΈ Installation of new water mains, hydrants, valves, and water service connections.

βœ”οΈ Upgrades to storm sewer systems to improve drainage.

βœ”οΈ Reconstruction of streets, curb and gutter, sidewalks, and driveway approaches within the project area.

βœ”οΈRegrading and reseeding of boulevard areas.

Residents can expect temporary inconveniences during construction, including traffic detours, driveway access restrictions, construction noise, dust, and occasional short-term water shutoffs.

The contractor will work with residents to maintain access whenever possible and will provide advance notice of planned utility interruptions.

As part of the reconstruction, trees located within the public right-of-way (boulevard area) are expected to be removed due to conflicts with sidewalks, curb and gutter, and underground utilities. This work is necessary to reduce future maintenance issues and protect the new infrastructure.

The City understands construction can be disruptive and appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents throughout the project. Open communication between property owners, the contractor, engineer, and City staff will help ensure the project moves forward as smoothly as possible.

Additional project updates will be shared as construction progresses.

πŸš›πŸŒΏ REMINDER CITY-WIDE NATIONAL GUARD SPRING CLEANUP IS COMING! πŸŒΏπŸš›

The National Guard is rolling into town on June 6th for Spring Cleanup!

Before you drag out that mystery pile that's been living behind the garage since 2022, here's the important part:

βœ… YARD WASTE ONLY
Leaves πŸ‚
Branches 🌳
Shrubbery 🌿
Garden debris 🌱
Weeds 🌾

❌ No furniture
❌ No appliances
❌ No "I swear this will fit if we try hard enough"

If it didn't grow from the ground, it probably doesn't belong in the pile.

Help our National Guard crew by keeping yard waste separated and ready for pickup.

Let's work together to make our community look amazing for summerβ€”one branch at a time!

πŸš¨πŸŒοΈβ€β™‚οΈ ATTENTION MILBANK GOLF CART DRIVERS πŸŒοΈβ€β™€οΈπŸš¨

The City would like to remind everyone that your golf cart is a vehicle, not a roller coaster, NASCAR entry, mobile daycare, or a TikTok studio.

Before hitting the streets:

βœ… Have a valid driver's license or permit
βœ… Register your golf cart with the City
βœ… Yield to pedestrians
βœ… Keep all passengers seated with arms, legs, and random body parts INSIDE the cart
βœ… Put the phone down β€” that text can wait longer than your golf cart takes to reach 20 mph

Remember: If your golf cart is carrying six kids, a dog, two lawn chairs, a cooler, and someone's emotional support mosquito... you're probably doing it wrong.

Let's keep our streets safe, our carts upright, and our names off the next neighborhood Facebook post.

πŸŒοΈβ€β™‚οΈ Drive like your grandma is watching.
πŸ‘΅ Because, she probably is. πŸ˜†

🚲⚑ E-Bikes are a fun and efficient way to get around, but safety always comes first!

Whether you’re cruising to work, the lake, or just around town, remember:

πŸͺ– Protect the noggin
🚢 Yield to pedestrians
πŸ’‘ Use your lights
πŸ›£οΈ Ride like the Constitution is watching

Because explaining to the ER staff that you β€œlaid β€˜er down avoiding a squirrel at 22 mph” is not the flex you think it is. πŸ˜…βš‘

Be Safe. Ride Smart. And try not to become the neighborhood Facebook post. πŸ‘€
