Calling all shoppers! We need your help to earn FREE money for the extra fun and educational things we do at MMS!

If I can do it, you definitely can figure this out. Two simple ways. Go to your Kroger account under payments and resources, then community rewards and put in our code CA006 (those are zeros). Done.

Second, download the Box Tops for Education app and scan ANY receipt from ANY place including Kroger that sells groceries. Choose Milan Middle School. Done. That’s it. We get double the rewards if you do both!

Wednesday was field day at MMS. The PTO put on a great day with support from the student council students and parent volunteers.

Students had a great mix of classic field day games, inflatables, and great station with cotton candy, popcorn, and lemonade. We ended with a staff vs student kickball game in the gym. Beautiful weather and a fantastic time!

This week MMS 8th graders teamed up with Liv’s Native Nursery to build a pollinator garden in our science courtyard. They worked hard during their last week of school to prepare a space that future MMS students, and hopefully a lot of pollinators, will enjoy for years to come.

Thank you to Liv's Native Nursery for designing our new garden, guiding us patiently through the planting process, and raising these beautiful native plants!

Thank you to the Washtenaw County Conservation District for funding this project!

📣 Reminder for Milan Area Schools families!

There will be no school on Friday, May 22 for Staff Professional Development Day and Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

Our school raised $1700 for the Huron Valley Humane Society/Leader Dogs for the Blind through Penny Wars!

Pics are from the 5th-grade class that raised the most. Lasso visited and taught them about Leader Dogs. The Humane Society visited the 5th and 8th winning classes, teaching them about the HVHS and animal body language (with one of their dogs). They also get to choose how to donate the money (naming litters of puppies, sponsoring puppies, buying engraved sidewalk bricks) AND will receive pizza parties.

As part of our Project Healthy Schools initiative, students rolled or walked into school today and had breakfast outside. Students who were dropped off or rode the bus joined in by taking a few laps on the track. Hundreds of kids started the day with some fresh air and exercise! Thanks to Ms. Etter, Mrs. Harwood and Ms. Schettenhelm with their help putting this together.
