There will be no school on Friday, May 22 for Staff Professional Development Day and Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

Our school raised $1700 for the Huron Valley Humane Society/Leader Dogs for the Blind through Penny Wars!

Pics are from the 5th-grade class that raised the most. Lasso visited and taught them about Leader Dogs. The Humane Society visited the 5th and 8th winning classes, teaching them about the HVHS and animal body language (with one of their dogs). They also get to choose how to donate the money (naming litters of puppies, sponsoring puppies, buying engraved sidewalk bricks) AND will receive pizza parties.

As part of our Project Healthy Schools initiative, students rolled or walked into school today and had breakfast outside. Students who were dropped off or rode the bus joined in by taking a few laps on the track. Hundreds of kids started the day with some fresh air and exercise! Thanks to Ms. Etter, Mrs. Harwood and Ms. Schettenhelm with their help putting this together.

After two months of studying World War II and the Holocaust in ELA, eighth-grade students, along with 60 family members, visited the Holocaust Memorial Center last week. The morning began with a presentation from the child of a Holocaust survivor, who shared her father’s story of strength, courage, and perseverance. Following the next-generation speaker, students and their families toured the museum, exploring the history leading up to the Holocaust and gaining a deeper understanding of this period through artifacts, stories, and interactive exhibits. The experience also emphasized the importance of acceptance, empathy, and tolerance. The eighth-grade team thanks the families who generously helped sponsor students, as well as those who volunteered their time to chaperone.

Our 7th-grade students stepped back into the 1960's for Outsiders Day! 7th-graders read the novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, then took part in an immersive experience filled with cross-curricular activities like a drive-in-style movie (and fully stocked concession stand), lava lamp science experiments, 1960's pop culture activities, Greaser vs. Soc kickball, etc. It was a fun day that helped bring a novel that resonated with so many students to life! The 7th-grade team would like to thank the families and community members who donated supplies to help make this day a success!
