Dear Property Owner:

In partnership with Hoosier Hills Regional Water District (HHRWD), we are evaluating the possibility of replacing some existing lines and/or adding new lines to the water system, otherwise, known as Div J Water System Improvement Project. With that being said, HHRWD has retained NS Services to find any archeological resources.

Representatives of this company may be required, (per federal regulations), to enter your property along the road during the next few weeks to determine whether archaeological resources exist in the potential project area. This letter serves as notice that they are performing official business under contract with HHRWD. We ask for your cooperation in this matter.

HHRWD is required to perform this service by federal agencies (U.S.D.A. Rural Development Funding) to determine the presence of any potential archaeological resources which may be impacted by the potential project. While on your property, representatives of NS Services may conduct an archaeological survey. The archaeological survey will consist of small shovel excavations. No locate is required. In areas with little or no vegetative cover, archeological deposits can be visually identified. This investigation will be confined to within 50 feet of the roadway.

Once the evaluations are complete, field personnel will fill the test pit so no holes are left on your property. Field personnel will make every effort to minimize disturbance to your property. In the very unlikely event that trees, shrubs, landscaping, or other valuable vegetation are damaged during this field work, you will be notified and informed as to the procedure to be followed in preparing a claim for reimbursement. If at any time you feel that we have not given proper attention to your property, please feel free to call GRW Engineering at 317-347-3650 or at [email protected].

The crews performing fieldwork do not have detailed information about the waterline project. However, we are always available to discuss your questions or concerns about this project. You may contact me, Alex White, GRW Engineer 317-347-3650 or Hoosier Hills Regional Water District, 812-654-3200, with any questions you may have. We sincerely appreciate your cooperation.

Respectfully,
