Mifflinburg Police are looking for a vehicle that was involved in a Hit & Run crash on Wednesday evening, 02/11/2026, at approximately 9:56pm. The suspect vehicle was traveling east on Walnut Street and accelerated while making a right turn onto North Third Street and lost control, striking a US Mail box and an occupied structure. Witnesses and physical evidence left at the scene indicate the vehicle should be a 2005-2007 Jeep Liberty Renegade, possibly tan, gray or other similar color. After impact, the vehicle continued south on North Third Street to Chestnut Street, turned left and fled east on Chestnut Street. Today begins Mifflinburg's annual Christkindl Market which runs through Saturday and brings thousands of visitors to our town. It goes without saying that this includes a lot of extra vehicle and foot traffic. Please be careful when driving in an around the Market and downtown areas. Visitors are asked to be considerate of our residents and not park on private property or block access to driveways. Residents are reminded it is not permissible to "reserve" parking on any public street (ie: blocking off with chairs, cones, saw horses, etc.). Any vehicles blocking fire hydrants or creating a public hazard will be ticketed and/or towed. Please be safe, kind to one another and enjoy our town!

The members of the Mifflinburg Police Department are heartbroken at the officer involved shooting incident that has occurred in York County. While not all the details have been released, we do know that 3 police officers have been killed and 2 more wounded. For any agency to suffer the loss of any officer is a tragedy but to lose 3 is unimaginable. Our thoughts and prayers are with the involved departments and especially the families of those affected.
