All in a day's work for our good buddy, Miles the Therapy Dog MWCPD!

Miles is glad this mowing season is coming to an end, but he says keeping our yards tidy and our city beautiful is well worth it.

He also said something about a contract for unlimited belly rubs and yum yums for using his name and likeness! 😯

What a day to give back to our neighbors! Two big efforts started early this morning (Saturday, Sept. 12) as volunteers gathered for the annual Restore Midwest City Paint-a-Thon and a 65+ bed build project for the Oklahoma Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace.

🖌 This year's Paint-A-Thon included two home touch-up projects finished by two dozen volunteers from various organizations, including Saints in Action from SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital - Midwest.

🛌 The bed build project at the Nick Harroz Community Center also included volunteers from various organizations, including Midwest City employees, Mid-Del Schools (Oklahoma) JROTC programs and a team from Sleep in Heavenly Peace.

😍 These folks accomplished some amazing things in our community! Thanks to each and every volunteer who put in their time and talents today.

TAKE PARKS AND TRAILS MASTER PLAN SURVEY 📝

We want to hear from you, Midwest City!

The City of Midwest City is partnering with Kimley-Horn to create a Recreation, Parks, and Trails Master Plan that will shape future improvements across our entire park system. After completing a full inventory of our parks and facilities, we’re now asking you to share your thoughts.

This is your opportunity to tell us what you’d love to see in our parks, trails, recreation programs, and public spaces. Your voice matters, and it will directly influence the future of Midwest City’s parks.

Reminder: Quarterly Bulk Waste Collection

Zone 1 – Beginning Sept. 14, 2026

• Ensure the bulk waste is at your curb (but not in the street) by 7 a.m. on the Monday of your collection week but not before 5 p.m. on the Friday before your week.
• Once you place your bulk waste at the curb for your collection week, leave it out all week. The number of collections we make determines when we can get to your street.

Questions? Call Public Works at 405-739-1066

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the resilience our nation showed on and after September 11, 2001.

Twenty five years later, the impact of that day continues to shape us. We honor the first responders, service members, and everyday citizens whose courage and compassion inspired a nation.

We will never forget.

As the demolition of the vacant Heritage Park Mall approaches, it is interesting to think back to the time when it was about to be built. We know so many of you remember this time well on this .

Oklahoma Times:

"Leveling and clearing work is beginning for the site of the new Heritage Park Mall to be built at the northwest corner of Air Depot and Reno in Midwest City."

Here is the final rendering of the new pickleball courts and tennis courts remodeling project taking place at Joe B. Barnes Regional Park.

Two of the existing tennis courts will become six new pickleball courts. The practice area will be lengthened on one side of the wall to allow more recovery time on solid ground strokes. New sidewalk access on the west end will lead to a covered bench area. New fencing will be installed all the way around, new nets, new surfaces - New New New!

They are working hard on it, and we know so many of you will benefit greatly from these improvements. We'll keep you posted as work progresses.
