On a Friday in April, Midvale Elementary received some very special visitors. We hosted volunteers from Risen Life Church and the Send Relief North American Mission Board who chose our school to support this year! Their projects included:
-Provided and set up a picnic table in a front courtyard for staff to enjoy the outdoors during their lunch breaks.
-Moved our Family Learning Center and set up a new Family Resource Center with shelving, clothing, food, and more.
-Provided a welcome sign in many world languages.
-Provided items for a staff wellness room.
-Provided portable sensory pathways for students to use.
-Fixed and re-painted our ga-ga ball pits.

We are so grateful to our community for supporting our staff, students, families, and school!

Our very first Family Booster Night on the evening of April 28 was quite a success! The theme was our great state of Utah, and the school was full of student projects including paintings of bees and Delicate Arch, fossils and fish, and more, as well as student descriptions of their favorite Beehive Books. Students participated with their families in activities such as fossil etchings, "hiking" through the hoodoos, and making Utah travel tri-folds. Several students performed in the Spring Play, written and directed by our very own Beverley Taylor Sorensen Arts Drama Teacher Jordan Nelson. We enjoyed foods associated with our state: Utah scones, jello, taffy and more. Thanks to all who were able to come, as well as to those who made it all possible!

A big thank you to Miss Josie for giving students the opportunity to give back to teachers and staff this week for Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week! Who makes you feel safe? Who makes you laugh? Who makes you feel confident? Who believes in you? What a gift for our teachers and staff to hear from students that they make a difference! Check out this video: https://youtu.be/sttRjScelbY

Our students picked a staff member who makes them feel safe, who believes in them, who makes them laugh....what a gift!

"You can't grow if you don't show!" We are celebrating amazing and improved attendance this year, and today was one of those celebrations! Students earn tickets when they come to school, and then have a chance to have their ticket drawn to earn prizes! As you can see, we had a lot of winners from every grade. We have also celebrated with bigger prizes as well as ice cream parties. Let's all make sure to be in school, on time, every day. Congratulations, Midvale Mustangs!
