To the residents of Midvale:
We wanted to let everyone know that we are currently in negotiations to contract out the fire department. Right now, we have offers from Uhrichsville, and Dennison/Smith Ambulance. The Fire Chief and the council with mayor are getting all the info needed to make the best decision to best suit this great community. Please have faith that we will not leave our community with anything but the best coverage and service possible. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us and we will answer them to the best of our abilities. You may also attend the next council meeting on January 14th, at 6:30pm at the pavilion to say anything or to hear the response. Thank you everyone for your continued support!

I wanted to remind everyone that we are currently in a burn ban for open burning. I know we have gotten a bit of rain, but it isn't enough for all the other leaves and debris to stay wet. Please do not burn from 6am to 6pm. Thanks everyone!

Today, multiple members joined 80+ other emergency vehicles in honoring #7963 Michael Creager II to his final resting place. It was such an amazing turn out to honor such a loyal and hard working man of integrity. It is a sad moment, but we know he is in a better place. Stand Down #7963, we'll take it from here!

If you will be traveling through the Dover/New Philadelphia area today, please be aware of what is expected to be a large funeral procession honoring Deputy Mike Craeger, a K9 handler of the Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office.

Funeral services are being held at 1:30 pm at the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds grandstand, and the procession will leave from there. The route is posted below.

If you're in the area and able, we encourage you to find a spot along the route to salute our friend! As we shared just a few short days ago, nothing weighs heavier on a first responder than the task of honoring our brothers and sisters who have passed. The small black band you'll see over the badges of those who attend is by far the heaviest fabric worn by any first responder. That little elastic band carries the memories and honor of each who has served and gone before us, and we, along with other first responders will don it again today, in solemn memory of our friend and brother Deputy Craeger.

Take a moment out of your day if you're able, and salute. Wave a flag. Join the countless first responders who will mourn the loss our county suffers with the passing of Deputy Craeger.

Following the service, a funeral procession will leave the fairgrounds, then go south on Union Avenue, turn left (east) on Fair Avenue NW in New Philadelphia, proceed to North Broadway, turn right (south) on N. Broadway to the city square, turn left (east) onto E. High Avenue, continue on E. High to Reiser Avenue, turn right on Reiser going past the sheriff’s office, continue to 21st Street, turn right on 21st Street, and turn onto Delaware Drive to Evergreen Burial Park.

Please remember this and let everyone know. No open burning during the banned times.

Please say a prayer for his family and friends as they go through this very difficult time!

Please say a prayer for his family and friends as they go through this very difficult time!

Today, the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office lost one of our own. K-9 Deputy Mike Creager, shown here with his partner Fygo, succumbed to his battle with Cancer today. Mike was a true warrior to the end and leaves behind a loving family and two daughters he adored more than anything. The community, the Police K-9 association and all of law enforcement lost a faithful servant.

Please keep his family in your prayers.
