🔥 BURN BAN IN EFFECT 🔥

Midland County Commissioners Court has approved a 90-day burn ban for unincorporated areas of Midland County due to continued dry conditions and elevated wildfire risk.

Residents are asked to avoid outdoor burning and use extra caution with any activity that could produce sparks or flames.

Please help us keep Midland County safe by following the burn ban and reporting any fires immediately.

What you throw away matters. 🚛🔥

Certain items can become a serious fire hazard once collected and compacted inside a garbage truck. Hot charcoal or ashes, batteries, electronics and hazardous materials should NEVER go in your regular garbage.

Proper disposal helps protect our Solid Waste crews, equipment and community!

Join us this Saturday, July 25, for a FREE Tire, Oil & Battery Recycling Event at the Midland County Road & Bridge Department, 2435 E. Highway 80, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m.

We'll be accepting:
🛞 Tires (no rims)
🛢️ Used motor oil
🔋 Batteries

These events make a real difference. Since Midland County began hosting them, residents have helped recycle 24,949 tires, 2,695 gallons of used motor oil, and 262 batteries—keeping those materials out of landfills, ditches, and illegal dump sites.

Whether you have one tire or a truckload, we hope you'll take advantage of this free opportunity to dispose of these items safely.

Since launching our trash drop-off events, illegal tire dumping across Midland County has dropped by 90%.

Thanks to everyone who dropped off trash at our free event this weekend:
✔️ 3,650 tires
✔️ 550 gallons of oil
✔️ 9 dumpsters filled

Help protect our families, our water, and our environment by safely disposing of old or unwanted medications. Midland County’s Clear the Clutter event is helping us take back medications that could be misused or harm children, pets, and wildlife if left unsecured.

Event details:
Date: April 11th, 2026
Time: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

What to bring: Old or unwanted prescription meds, over-the-counter meds, vitamins, and medication containers
What not to bring: syringes/sharps , radioactive materials, or liquids
Why disposing medications properly matters:

Reduces the risk of drug misuse and diversion, especially among children and teens
Protects local waterways and ecosystems from pharmaceutical contaminants

Used tires without rims
Motor oil
Auto and household batteries
Household trash
Scrap metal
