Midland County residents in select areas of Midland County and the City of Midland may notice aerial spraying has begun as part of the 2026 Spongy Moth Suppression Program. Spraying is weather dependent and uses B.t.k., a naturally occurring bacteria that targets spongy moth larvae while remaining safe for bees, birds, fish, and mammals. Treatment area maps are available online https://midlandcountymi.gov/aerial and at the West Community Center.

Sanford Lake Park is still open! Road construction/paving is occurring on W. Irish St. and the entrance drive to Sanford Lake Park currently through approximately June 12. Recovery is strongest when an entire community comes together.

Thanks to the generosity of local donors, Midland County Specialty Courts recently received $2,175 through 16 gifts from 15 donors. These contributions help provide transportation assistance, groceries, personal hygiene items, recovery support services, and other resources that remove barriers for participants working toward a healthier future.

This community support complements the recent grant awarded by the Midland Area Community Foundation, which is helping expand recovery coaching services within the MiHOPE program. Together, these investments provide both the practical resources and personal support participants need as they pursue long term recovery and stability.

Every donation, partnership, and act of support helps create opportunities for change.

Tree trimming/brush removal will be taking place in the Saginaw Road Right-Of-Way adjacent to the Pere Marquette Rail Trail over the next two weeks. Please be aware and use caution between 8 Mile Rd. and 10.5 Mile Rd. Contractors will have the area signed and will have radio communication and spotters stopping work and allowing safe passage for pedestrians on the Rail Trail.

Midland County Clerk Ann Manary has announced her upcoming retirement, effective May 15.

Following this announcement, the Judges of the 42nd Circuit Court are opening the application process to appoint an individual to serve as County Clerk through the remainder of the current term.

Midland County residents interested in the position are invited to submit a letter of interest and resume by May 4 at 5:00 PM.

📍 Submissions can be made by email or in person at the Midland County Courthouse.
