Today, on World Su***de Prevention Day, we remember those lost to su***de, stand beside those who are struggling, and remind our community that reaching out can make a difference.

Su***de prevention starts with connection. Check in on the people around you. Listen without judgment. Take changes in behavior seriously. Remind someone that they matter, and don’t be afraid to ask directly if you’re concerned about them.

You don’t have to have the perfect words to show someone you care. Sometimes simply being present, listening, and helping someone connect with support can be an important first step.

And when su***de does impact a family, that need for connection doesn’t end. It’s part of why we created Holding Hope—so children, teens, and families grieving a su***de loss have a place where they don’t have to carry that grief alone.

Two of our volunteers recently joined Krista Escamilla to share what Rays of Hope means to them, why they choose to volunteer, and the impact Rays of Hope makes in the lives of the families served.

HopeWorks starts NEXT WEEK!

There’s still time to register your family for our fall semester of HopeWorks, a FREE 10-week peer support program for children and teens ages 4–18 navigating grief and major life changes.

Families can choose the group that best fits their experience:

💜 Tuesdays beginning Sept. 8 | 7–8 PM
For changes such as divorce, separation, incarceration, and other significant transitions.

💛 Thursdays beginning Sept. 10 | 7–8 PM
For families grieving the death of someone important to them.

Children and teens are placed with peers of similar ages and experiences, with a concurrent group available for parents and guardians.

HopeWorks returns this month, Creative Wednesdays continue each week, and we’re looking forward to our 4th Annual Hope on the Green fundraiser on September 19!

• Sept. 10 | World Su***de Prevention Day
• Sept. 19 | Hope on the Green | 5–8 PM
• Wednesdays | Creative Wednesdays | 3:30–5:30 PM, come and go
