The National Weather Service has updated its severe weather briefing for today and tonight. The overall threat remains focused on this evening and overnight, but forecasters have now added the possibility of an earlier round of showers and isolated thunderstorms between 3 PM and 6 PM. While not expected to be the main event, a few storms during this period could become strong or severe.

The primary severe weather threat for Clinton County is still expected later tonight, with the latest timing graphics indicating the greatest risk beginning around 11 PM and continuing overnight. Damaging winds remain the primary concern, with isolated tornadoes, large hail, frequent lightning, and localized flooding also possible.

Now is a good time to review your severe weather plan, ensure you have multiple ways to receive warnings overnight, and secure loose outdoor items before storms arrive.

As I am sure, most of you know by now, we are supposed to have severe weather this evening. The latest models and updates are showing severe weather occurring anywhere from 6 PM till midnight with the most severe being between 8 PM and 9 PM for our area. Please make sure you have a plan together, know where you will take shelter and have several ways to get weather alerts. Also, have your phones charged and batteries for flashlights as there is a very good possibility of power outages during these storms. Please stay safe!
