🐦✨ Fall Migration Starts Today! ✨🐦

Today marks the beginning of Fall Migration, when millions of birds begin their journey south. From September 5 through October 29, you can help keep night skies safer for migrating birds by turning off unnecessary outdoor and indoor lights at night.

💡 How You Can Help: • Turn off non-essential lights from dusk to dawn • Close blinds and curtains to reduce light spill • Use motion sensors or shielded outdoor lighting • Encourage your friends, family, and neighbors to participate

Even small actions can make a big difference. By reducing light pollution, we help migrating birds navigate safely through our community.

Let's do our part to keep Midland bird-friendly this migration season! 🐦🍂🌙

🚛 Labor Day Holiday Schedule Update

The City of Midland offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of Labor Day.

Due to the holiday, the Solid Waste collection schedule will be adjusted throughout the week. Residents are encouraged to check their collection day and place carts out by 7:00 a.m. on their scheduled pickup day.

🌼🐝 Let's Fill Midland with Flowers for Our Pollinators! 🦋🌻

Right now is a great time to plant flowers in your yard, garden, pots, or hanging baskets. By choosing blooms that are rich in pollen and nectar, you're helping provide food for the bees, butterflies, and other pollinators that keep our ecosystems healthy. 💚

As migration season approaches, many birds, bees, and butterflies, including Monarchs, will be passing through our area and relying on these important food sources. Birds depend on seeds and healthy insect populations, and pollinators depend on blooming flowers to survive.

🌸 Plant flowers. 🐝 Feed pollinators. 🦋 Support Monarchs. 🐦 Help migrating birds.
