Midland County Search and Rescue

Midland County Search and Rescue Midland County Search and Rescue, is an all-volunteer organization offering support, assistance and management when someone goes missing in Mid-Michigan.

Midland County Search and Rescue is organized exclusively to safely locate, assist with stabilization and transporting missing persons of Midland County and surrounding communities on behalf of the office of the Sheriff of Midland County. Yep, it was a bit wet out there this morning. We train in the rain because we respond in the rain. It’s always good to see how good your gear handles whatever Mother Nature throws at you!

We spent the morning doing area and route searches to help prepare our members heading to FUNSAR in Lapeer soon.

Per the current training schedule, just a quick reminder that our upcoming General Membership meeting on Thursday March 19th at 7 pm will be held at the Midland County Jail conference room, 101 Fast Ice Blvd, Midland, as the LEC conference room is unavailable. Please park in the north parking lot and enter through the main entrance.

Training topic is a map desktop exercise. We will review topo map features; true, magnetic, and grid North; and how to plot coordinates, measure distance, and establish bearings on a map. Please bring your compass, ruler, pencil, and map grid readers if you have them.
