Now THAT’S how you start a week!

We kicked off this week by swearing in two new volunteers and a new staff member, and that’s the CASA Effect in motion.

The CASA Effect starts with one person raising their hand and saying yes to a child who needs someone in their corner. That single decision creates a ripple effect of support, stability, hope and advocacy.

Today that ripple got a little bigger.

Congrats to Volunteers Josie Montanez, Spencer Ludlow and staff member: Jessica Sosa! Thank you for choosing to be a consistent presence and trusted voice for children in foster care. We can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make!

Please join us in congratulating the newest members of the CASA Family!

Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their courage, sacrifice, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, may we also pause to reflect with gratitude on those who made our freedoms possible.

From all of us at CASA of West Texas, we thank and remember our fallen heroes.

It started with one simple “yes.”

One “yes” to showing up.
One “yes” to advocating.
One “yes” to changing a child’s story.

Today, we are proud to celebrate the swearing-in of our newest CASA advocate, John Brock, at CASA of West Texas! By saying “yes” to this journey, John has committed to being a consistent voice for children in foster care who deserve to be seen, heard, and supported.

That’s the power of the CASA Effect: one person choosing to step forward can make a lasting impact in the life of a child.

Please join us in welcoming John to the CASA family as he begins making a difference across our community!

A mid week moment worth celebrating!

This week we’re celebrating a child finding belonging and a new beginning through adoption. After being with this child since they were just four days old, their CASA Volunteer had the privilege of walking alongside them all the way to this life-changing day.

A new family. A new name. A new chapter filled with hope and love.

This is the kind of moment that reminds us why advocacy matters. Through every moment big and small, every milestone, every court date and every transition, one consistent adult can help change the course of a child’s future.

So if you need a midweek pick me up, this is it: the CASA Effect in action.

This Mother’s Day, CASA of West Texas celebrates the incredible mothers, grandmothers, foster moms, adoptive moms, and mother figures who continue to show up for children with unwavering love and care. The impact of a nurturing and supportive presence can shape a child’s entire future.

We also want to extend love to the mothers facing challenges, the children missing their moms, women longing to be mothers and the families working through difficult seasons. May this day be filled with grace, reflection, and love.

Thank you to the women who comfort, encourage, protect, advocate, and love so deeply. Your strength changes lives every day.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at CASA of West Texas.

Some moments don’t look like much but they can change everything.

A conversation over coffee. A simple question. A story that stays with you. That’s often how people first connect with CASA.

If you’ve ever been curious about what CASA really is, this is a chance to learn in a relaxed, no-pressure way. No formal presentation, just real people talking about what it looks like to show up for children in foster care and why it matters.

CASA volunteers are everyday people: teachers, parents, neighbors, professionals who chose to step into something meaningful. And what they quickly learn is that impact rarely comes from big moments, but from small, steady ones: a visit, a conversation, being someone a child can count on.

That’s the CASA Effect.

Most people who get involved started exactly where you might be now: curious, unsure, but open. You don’t need experience. You just need willingness.

☕ CASA Coffee Chat: May 14 7am-9am. 1611 W. Texas Ave., Midland TX.

There are limited opportunities like this before our next training begins, and we’d love to meet you!

What better way to start the week than with some good news?

Last week, two sisters officially became a forever family, together.

A few years ago, this family said yes to an older sister. When her baby sister needed a home they said yes again.

Same family.
Same commitment.
More love.

And through it all a CASA Volunteer was there. Showing up, staying consistent, making sure their voices were heard.

Now both girls are home, together.

That’s the CASA Effect.

These small moments: showing up, speaking up and staying can change a child’s story forever.

Be a part of moments like this.

The impact is real and it’s something you can count.

26239 miles traveled to show up for children
278 children served with advocacy and care
100 volunteers stepping up to make a difference
4298 hours served showing consistency when it matters most

These numbers tell a story, but behind every number is a child who needs stability, support, and someone in their corner.

And there are still more children waiting.

Be part of the difference you can count.

You don’t have to be perfect to be a CASA Volunteer.

You just have to be present.

Listen.
Show up.
Advocate.
Care.

It’s not about having all the answers. It’s about being someone a child can count on.
