Together. Forward. Bold. An exceptional place where everyone thrives. We looked at where we’ve been, where we are, and where we’re going during the 2026 State of the City Address this afternoon.

As we look at where we’ve been, I decided to look back at what you, our community, have accomplished over the last decade. As we look over the list of accomplishments, we see challenges conquered, goals met, and a community that has grown stronger together.

Where we are in 2026 touched on three main points: Finishing what we started, staying resilient in the face of challenges, and ensuring Midland’s best days are ahead. As a government, we don’t want to do too much at one time. We have current initiatives to finish as we look to the future.

Looking ahead, 2026-2027 planning directives are to maintain services at the highest possible level and hold the millage rate at 15.14 for the eighth consecutive year. The list of ongoing and future projects is extensive and includes increasing housing, reducing flooding, improving roads, supporting economic development and much more. I encourage you to watch the full 2026 State of the City address for more information on where Midland is headed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZNb3mK0iB0

In Midland, we believe in working together. We believe in investing in our future. And we believe that strong communities are built by people who care about where they live. Together, we continue to make Midland an exceptional place where everyone thrives.
