A meaningful, firsthand look inside a medical facility that truly puts patients first!

It was a pleasure visiting Bergen New Bridge Medical Center again and getting a tour of this vibrant facility, including its new, state of the art Emergency Department. I was especially impressed by the commitment to caring for the whole patient, focusing not only on physical needs, but on the overall health, dignity, and well-being of every person who walks through its doors. Another spending record broken!

Yesterday, I voted against Governor Sherrill’s irresponsible $61 Billion FY27 budget. The budget process lacked transparency as to what is actually in the budget, and totally failed to deliver on the Administration’s claim that this would be an “affordability budget” for NJ families and residents.

This Budget increased spending a shocking $2 Billion from last year, failed to provide meaningful tax relief, missed opportunities to cut the sales tax and the corporate business tax, and failed to provide property tax relief for homeowners and renters alike.

A historical note: the state budget when I was elected to the Legislature in November 2017 was $34 Billion. The budget has increased $27 Billion during the 8 years of the Murphy Administration and now into the Sherrill term. That increase truly should shock the conscience of all New Jerseyans.

New Jersey residents and businesses continue to face unreasonably high costs, and this budget does not address their affordability concerns. I remain committed to fighting for lower taxes, responsible spending, and policies that make it easier to live, work, and raise a family in the Garden State.

If NJ wants to get serious about ending “Junk Fees”, the State should start by looking at itself.

Yesterday, Senator Kristin M. Corrado, Assemblyman Al Barlas and I called upon Governor Mikie Sherrill to end State Agencies charging Junk Fees to municipalities.

The NJDEP collected at least $19.6 million in permit fees from public entities including more than $947,000 from the municipalities in District 40 between 2019 and 2024 alone. It’s time to get serious about eliminating “Junk Fees” and it should start in Trenton.
