☀️ Heat Safety Reminder from Midland Park Ambulance Corps ☀️
With temperatures rising, it's important to take steps to protect yourself and your loved ones from heat-related illnesses.
💧 Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty.
Avoid excessive alcohol and caffeinated beverages, which can contribute to dehydration.
❄️ Keep Cool
Turn on your air conditioning or visit a cooling center if your home becomes too warm.
Use fans, close blinds during the hottest parts of the day, and avoid strenuous outdoor activities when possible.
👵👴 Check on Elderly Neighbors and Loved Ones
Older adults are especially vulnerable during extreme heat.
Make a phone call, stop by, or ensure they have access to air conditioning, water, and a cool environment.
🚨 Know the Signs of Heat Emergencies
Watch for:
Dizziness or fainting
Excessive sweating or hot, dry skin
Nausea or vomiting
Confusion or altered mental status
Rapid pulse
If someone is experiencing signs of heat stroke or a heat emergency, call 911 immediately.
Stay safe, stay cool, and look out for one another. Together, we can help keep our community healthy during this heat wave.
