☀️ Heat Safety Reminder from Midland Park Ambulance Corps ☀️
With temperatures rising, it's important to take steps to protect yourself and your loved ones from heat-related illnesses.
💧 Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty.
Avoid excessive alcohol and caffeinated beverages, which can contribute to dehydration.
❄️ Keep Cool
Turn on your air conditioning or visit a cooling center if your home becomes too warm.
Use fans, close blinds during the hottest parts of the day, and avoid strenuous outdoor activities when possible.
👵👴 Check on Elderly Neighbors and Loved Ones
Older adults are especially vulnerable during extreme heat.
Make a phone call, stop by, or ensure they have access to air conditioning, water, and a cool environment.
🚨 Know the Signs of Heat Emergencies
Watch for:
Dizziness or fainting
Excessive sweating or hot, dry skin
Nausea or vomiting
Confusion or altered mental status
Rapid pulse
If someone is experiencing signs of heat stroke or a heat emergency, call 911 immediately.
Stay safe, stay cool, and look out for one another. Together, we can help keep our community healthy during this heat wave.

The Midland Park Ambulance Corps was honored to plant a tree in memory of Jeffery Allyn, Captain, Life Member, mentor, and friend.
Jeff dedicated so much of his life to answering the call to help those in need. His commitment to serving the Midland Park community left a lasting impact on our Corps and on everyone who had the privilege to know and work beside him.
This tree and memorial plaque stand as a tribute to Jeff’s years of service, leadership, and compassion. May it serve as a lasting reminder of his legacy and the difference one person can make through selfless service.
Thank you, Jeff, for your dedication, your leadership, and your unwavering commitment to our community. Your legacy will continue to grow for generations to come.

This applies to us also Midland Park. Our Corps has been serving the community since 1942 and if this bill goes through unamended we will have a difficult time continuing the excellent service we have provided. 90% of the times we respond we are a fully certified NJ EMT and a fully trained Driver/Lifter.

🚑 Volunteer EMS in New Jersey needs your support

NJ Senate Bill S1421 is scheduled to be heard by the Senate Law & Public Safety Committee, and while the bill aims to make Basic Life Support ambulance coverage an essential service, it currently raises serious concerns for volunteer EMS agencies across the state.

Volunteer ambulance squads have been serving New Jersey communities for generations — answering emergency calls, staffing ambulances, training for hundreds of hours, and providing life-saving care to our neighbors. In 2025 alone, volunteer squads answered more than 180,000 calls statewide.

However, as written, this bill may not clearly recognize many volunteer EMS agencies as authorized providers and could create staffing requirements that many volunteer squads cannot realistically meet.

Without important amendments, communities could face longer response times, reduced EMS coverage, greater strain on neighboring systems, and higher costs to taxpayers.

Ramsey Ambulance Corps supports efforts to strengthen emergency medical services in New Jersey — but volunteer EMS must be protected, recognized, and included in the process.
