🎒 Back to school in Alabama means a brand new rule for teen drivers.

🚗 Under Taylor’s Law (effective Aug 1), behavior in the classroom now impacts when teens can get behind the wheel!

The state is tracking discipline points starting at age 13. Each point adds 1 week of delay to getting a learner’s permit or driver’s license.

Here is how the points add up:

🔹 1 day of In-School Suspension (ISS) = 1 point (1-week delay)
🔹 1 day of Out-of-School Suspension (OSS) = 2 points (2-week delay)
🔹 Alternative School Placement = 6 points (6-week delay)
🔹 Expulsion = 20 points (20-week delay!)

🛑 The Max Delay: Driving privileges can be pushed back by up to one year.

✨ The Good News: Points can be reduced or entirely wiped clean if a student maintains a clean disciplinary record for 1 to 2 consecutive school years. Safe roads start with responsible choices inside the classroom. 📚💡

✨For the first time ever, the Midfield City Council and Midfield School Board came together for a historic joint Town Hall meeting!

We unlocked open communication to unite our vision, combine resources, and pave stronger pathways to success for every child in Midfield.

Special thank you to State Representative Patrick L. Sellers for his $10,000 donation!
Here’s the breakdown:
$5,000 to high school
$2,500 to middle school
$2,500 to elementary school

The Midfield City School Board approved Mrs. Kimberly Felton to serve as Interim Superintendent.

She taught Kindergarten for 12 years and 2nd grade for 2 years before serving as Assistant Principal and Principal at Midfield Elementary School.

Board President, Willie A Watson sent a letter to students, parents and staff explaining the change in leadership.

“Your dedication and continued support will be instrumental in ensuring a seamless transition.

Mrs. Felton is looking forward to working with each of you as we prepare for an outstanding 2026-2027 school year. Together, we will continue to build a strong foundation of excellence throughout the district.

With your dedication, collaboration and unwavering commitment to our students, together we will continue to move Forward with Excellence,”Watson said.
