Waterbury, Water System Update - Sunday, Good morning. This is Mayor Paul Pernerewski with an update on Waterbury’s water restoration efforts. While much of the North and East End remain without water, crews continue to make significant progress. Service has been restored to the west side of the city, and much of the downtown continues to receive water from the 12-inch gravity fed line. I am pleased to report that both Waterbury Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital are now operating with full water capacity. Crews are continuing to work until water is fully restored to the city. With help from the National Guard, city staff, and volunteers, drinking water will be distributed at Municipal Stadium and Crosby High School until 5 pm or until supplies are depleted. Additional truckloads of water are expected to arrive today to continue distribution at both sites on Monday. Thank you to our residents and businesses for their patience and cooperation, and to the National Guard, our state and community partners, city staff, and volunteers and all who have been working around the clock to restore water service and support our community.
