HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO THE MIDDLETOWN DIVISION OF FIRE!

On this date in 1882, the City of Middletown officially established the Middletown Division of Fire. Originally based out of a city building, the department has grown significantly since those early days. Today, the Middletown Division of Fire operates from four stations across the city, with fire and EMS units responding to hundreds of calls each week.

The department’s history dates back even further to 1848, when the Middletown Fire Company began as a volunteer-run operation.

City Hall turns 50 on July 4th, and we’re counting down to the anniversary of the doors opening to the public.

This image was captured in June 1976. The photographer went a few floors up to capture construction of the parking lot on the building’s northwest corner. Below this parking lot is the garage used by the Middletown Division of Police.

By April 1976, almost all of the exterior work on the building was complete. This photo shows the south side of the building, the photographer would have had the Manchester Inn to their left.
