What may look like just play to Mika is actually a brief training session. Reinforcing obedience, control over her “release” command with the ball, and continued exposure to cold temperatures and snow.

She may be off duty today, but tomorrow she could be tasked with a long track over snowy terrain or maintaining a perimeter where her only safe cover may be on snow and ice for an extended period of time. Training in these conditions matters.

So yes, today is “play”… but don’t tell her that. Mika thinks she has the day off.

What a wonderful success story this one is! We have personally met Nicole this past summer when she helped rescue a dog the following day after we reached out to her. She jumped in her car and captured the stray dog that night after conducting surviellance for many hours. Her skill and determination can not be matched. We thank her for all that she does and ask that if you have a few extra bucks that you consider donating to her wonderful cause as she volunteers all her time. Besides maintenance on the traps and camera equipment etc; she also has fuel bills as she travels very far for many of her cases and other related costs. K9 Mika had a day off the streets today and made the most of it…..training! While we can’t show you all of our secrets, here is a sample of some narcotic detection. You can try to hide it, but she will find it!

Officer McDonald and K9 Camo are competing strong at the Police Dog 1 National Trial in Florida!
Behind the scenes, they’ve been putting in countless hours of training—early mornings and late evenings—to perfect every exercise for the event. Rumor has it the temperature dipped into the upper 30s today, so skipping practice for a beach day definitely wasn’t on the table! 🌴🐕
