Yesterday began preparations for the annual TMI Golf Outing at 6:00 PM. Approximately 30 personnel met at the station and then proceeded to Sunset Golf Course where we stuffed participant bags with all the goodies that were provided. After the stuffing was completed, personnel enjoyed a catered meal by Bob Brant Catering, entertainment by Nick Ferraro and the All Stars and socializing with the Platinum Sponsors.

Today started at 6:30 AM with 18 personnel preparing for the 19th annual TMI Golf Outing at Sunset Golf Course, this event supports the Londonderry Volunteer Fire Department. All golfers got checked in handed there "goodie bags" and then the fire company was presented with a $75,000.00 check from Christopher Crane Clean Energy Center, TMI 2 D&D (Energy Solutions) and Jingoli Nuclear Services who are the Event Sponsors. This event is not possible without ALL of our sponsors that contribute to the cause. While the golfers were on the course enjoying the weather and competition, crews were cooking hamburgers and hotdogs at the turn, making sure all the coolers were filled with refreshments and anything else that was needed throughout the day.

At 8:47 AM Engine 54 was dispatched to assist Elizabethtown Fire Department with a Carbon Monoxide Alarm on Zeager Road. Engine 54 responded with 6 personnel and assisted with the investigation until being released by command. Once released the Engine returned to Sunset Golf Course to continue helping at the outing.

Then at 12:52 PM the department was dispatched to East Harrisburg Pike and South Geyers Church Road for a vehicle accident. The DO, Engine, Tanker and Utility made the response. The DO arrived to find 2 vehicles involved and one patient that was transported from the scene by South Central EMS. Once the roadway was cleared units returned to Sunset Golf Course.

Shortly after returning to the golf course crews began handing out prizes, clearing the golf course and enjoying lunch prepared by Bob Brant Catering. After all the announcements and prizes participants enjoyed some social time. Personnel then cleared the clubhouse, and any remining product was transported back to the station to be used by the fireman.

All personnel then assisted with putting things away and returned to their families at around 3:30 PM. But the day didn't stop then because at 6:30 PM 5 personnel boarded the Tanker and delivered water to a resident to fill their swimming pool. While they were filling the pool we were dispatched at 7:17 PM to assist Bainbridge Fire Company with an incident on the Susquehanna River. Marine 54 along with the Utility made the response with 4 personnel and stood by on shore until released by command.

Yesterday at 1620 hours Company 54 along with mutual aid departments were dispatched to London Avenue for a reported structure fire. DO54 (Shellenhamer) arrived on the scene at 1626 hours finding the homeowner using a garden hose on the side of the residence. Chief 54 did a quick investigation found a small fire had occurred under the aluminum siding. After checking the inside of the residence and finding very little extension inside and no active fire, the alarm was held to Engine 54 with a crew of 6 personnel. The engine crew performed some overhaul then returned to service at 1712 hours.

At 1730 hours Engine 54 was dispatched to assist Middletown Fire Department on a structure fire investigation on Dock Street in Royalton Borough. The engine responded at 1732 hours with a crew of 6 personnel. Upon arrival the engine was requested to stand by with their manpower until released by command at 1741 hours.

After returning to the station Engine 54, Engine 54-1 and the Utility along with 13 personnel proceeded to the Lancaster County Public Safety Training Center to use the smoke maze. Crews trained using airpacks and advancing handlines into a structure. Crews wrapped up training at 2100 hours and returned to the station. Upon returning to the station crews cleaned up from the first call and training and then enjoyed some pizza from the Riverhouse.

Looking for a "cool" way to support your local fire company?
Consider donating a case of water or sports drink (such as Gatorade) to keep our firefighters hydrated during training and while on emergency calls.

Our firefighters wear heavy protective gear in extreme temperatures while fighting fires and it's important to keep them hydrated.

Donations can be dropped of Wednesday evenings during training or left by the door on the far right side of the building.

20:07 County dispatched Box 54-5 for a crash at Route 230 and Schoolhouse Roads. Engine 54, Engine 54-1, Tanker 54, Utility 54 and DO responded. One patient was transported to the hospital.

Last evening for weekly training, Company 88, 54, and 59 travelled to HACC for run ins. These scenarios focused on the importance of the Dauphin County SOG and the duty’s of the first, second, third, and fourth due engine companies.

We would like to thank Squad Co. 71 and Company 46 for covering the area while we were committed out of our area. Standby crews handled two calls.
