You probably know Middletown Valley People Helping People best through our Stuff the Bus and Holiday Assistance Programs, but did you know that we provide other direct assistance to our neighbors in need?

Here are two additional programs that support our community:

Emergency Assistance Program:
• We aid those facing housing challenges including avoiding evictions or utility shutoffs and help with security deposits.
• We also provide other small emergency support (for instance for food, clothing, medical, or other needs) as decided on an as-needed basis by our team of emergency assistance volunteers.
• In 2025 we provided assistance 109 times for individuals or families.

Transportation Assistance Program:
• We coordinate transportation to local medical appointments for clients who are able to independently get in and out of vehicles without assistance.
• In 2025 we provided 49 transports.

If you are in need of assistance:
• Our trained team of volunteers are available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, at 301-371-3119.
• Our service area for providing emergency and transportation assistance is the Middletown school feeder system, including Middletown, Myersville, and Wolfsville. (If you live outside of these areas, please contact the agencies in your area first.)

If you would like to support these programs:
• Donations to our General Fund can be made on our website at https://www.mvphp.org/donate-now.
• If you are interested in volunteering, you can email us at [email protected] or complete the contact form on our website at https://www.mvphp.org/contact.
As always, we appreciate your support!

We want to wish you a “Happy 2026” and extend our appreciation to the Middletown valley community for your support of our 2025 Holiday Assistance Program!

Through your efforts, we were able to make the holidays brighter for 179 children in 69 families. And it truly was a community effort:
• Individuals donated gift cards (or money for gift cards), toiletries, and toys
• Families donated toys at Christmas in the Valley
• Neighborhood communities organized gift card drives
• Gift card donations were collected at book clubs and parties
• Churches collected gift cards, socks, toiletries, and toys
• Schools held toiletry and sock drives and primary and elementary school students decorated bags to put those items in
• Businesses made donations or coordinated employee drives
• Another charity provided us with pallets of toiletry items

So many people came together to support our neighbors! The recipients were very grateful and several noted that there would have been no Christmas for their family without this support.

We have such a generous and kind community! Thank you again and best wishes for a wonderful 2026!

As we conclude celebrating this Thanksgiving weekend, please consider supporting those in need of assistance to make the upcoming holidays bright! The MVPHP Holiday Assistance Program provides to qualifying families:
• Children with a toy and a $100 gift card.
• Teens with a bag of toiletry items and a $100 gift card.
• Families with a $100-$200 gift card for their holiday meal.

Your donation will help make the holidays happier for approximately 100 local families. To donate online, please go to https://www.mvphp.org/donate-now. Checks may be mailed to MVPHP, PO Box 477, Middletown, MD 21769.

As always, we appreciate your support and are amazed by the generosity of our Middletown valley community!

*P.S.: MVPHP is a non-profit entity eligible for employer matching gifts! If you work for a company with a matching gift program, you may be able to double your impact!
