☀️🚔 A Message from the Middletown Township Police Department 🚔☀️
As summer begins and school is letting out, we encourage everyone to make safety a priority and help ensure a safe and enjoyable season for all.
🐾 Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle. Even on mild days, temperatures inside a parked car can rise quickly, creating dangerous and potentially deadly conditions within minutes. There is no safe amount of time to leave a child or pet inside a vehicle.
🚲 E-Bike Safety Is Everyone’s Responsibility
With more children and teens enjoying E-bikes during the summer months, we have seen an increase in unsafe and reckless riding; no amount of enforcement can replace good judgment and personal responsibility.
We ask riders to make responsible choices and remember that safety begins with each individual. Parents should also take an active role in discussing safe riding habits and setting clear expectations. A moment of poor decision-making can have lifelong consequences.
Please remember to:
• Wear a helmet.
• Obey traffic laws and stop signs.
• Ride at safe speeds.
• Avoid distractions.
• Never carry passengers unless the bicycle is designed to do so.
• Be mindful and respectful of pedestrians, motorists, and fellow cyclists.
Summer should be a time for fun and making memories—not preventable tragedies. By working together, exercising common sense, and looking out for one another, we can help keep our roads, parks, and neighborhoods safe for everyone.
