September 11, 2001 — We Will Never Forget 🇺🇸
Twenty-five years have passed since September 11, 2001, but time has not lessened the significance of that day or our responsibility to remember.
We remember how that morning began like any other: people going to work, families starting their day, and first responders reporting for duty. In a matter of moments, everything changed.
Today, the members of Middletown Volunteer Fire Company remember the 2,977 people who lost their lives on September 11th. The civilians whose ordinary morning became unimaginable, and the first responders who answered the call as the events unfolded.
For first responders, this morning remains sacred ground. Among those lost were 343 FDNY firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers, and 8 EMS personnel. They ran toward danger while others were trying to escape it. Their courage and sacrifice are etched into the heart of the fire service.
We remember the survivors, the responders and the civilians who worked in the days and months that followed, and those who continue to carry the physical and emotional effects of September 11. We remember the families who have carried the weight of that morning for 25 years.
We also remember how that day changed the very core of our nation and what followed, the strength, compassion, and unity of a nation that came together in the face of unimaginable loss.
Twenty-five years later, we step away from the routine of our own daily lives to remember theirs. As firefighters, we honor the legacy of those who came before us each time we answer the call and serve our community.
Twenty-five years have passed, but we have not forgotten. We cannot forget. We will never forget.🇺🇸
